Certainly we'll need a couple months of solid 6 IP, 2-3 ER pitching before we can say he's redeemed himself. But I like how you think I've been sipping too much sauce (forgive the pun on your own name) down here — I'm damn close to being at that point.Anyhow, hopefully Eaton will show himself to be a solid 6 IP guy; if not, of course, he hasn't made up for his struggles before. It will take months. But for now, it's good to see two consecutive good starts.

Lewis: When I said “damn close to cleaning up his mess,” I meant his “spring” mess. But I wonder if you aren't being a little too optimistic in saying that he's "damn close to cleaning up his mess." (You sipping too many fruity rum drinks down there?!?!) If he returns to pre-Phillies form, that's wonderful. But it's been more than a year since then, and two outings -- while giving me hope -- don't erase a season of abject failure. The team says Benson won't be ready 'til June 1 or so. That gives Eaton two months of real game work to prove himself. As far as I'm concerned, his last two outings have not been outright redemption. He's pitched his way into the fifth-starter spot, and that's all. He's a long way from inspiring my confidence or keeping a starting pitching job.Hope you're enjoying yourself down there.

Tim, I’m as happy as anyone to see Eaton pitch well.
