Braves’ Hampton Back On DL

If anyone had “during his first start” on the “Mike Hampton to the DL” pool, you actually just missed. If you had “during the warmup pitches before his first start,” you got it dead on — collect your year’s supply of scrapple.

Hampton has a strained left pectoral muscle — it happened during those warmup pitches. Says manager Bobby Cox:

“It’s unbelievable something else could pop up like that but it did. … He felt it a little bit the other day tossing the ball and we didn’t think much of it, to be honest with you.”

It was a question in itself whether Hampton could pitch through an entire season. He hasn’t started since 2005. Now he’ll go on the 15-day DL, retroactive to March 30. Jo-Jo Reyes will take his place on the roster and Chuck James will take his place in the rotation.

Tough blow for the Braves, but you know, this wasn’t too much of a reach.

I hope the Braves weren’t counting on him to provide a lot of starts, I told a friend of mine yesterday that I didn’t think it would be long before he got hurt.

Between him and Pedro, I’d be surprised if they start 20 games.

How many people think Kendrick will be able to pull this season off? I personally don’t think he’ll be able to duplicate last season, but hopefully he proves me wrong. Besides this pitching match up tonight (Kendrick-Fogg) Just doesn’t seem fair LoL. Fogg is always known to give us a hard time.

He actually carries an ERA over 5 against the Phils for his career (just four starts). But Kendrick should be OK, in my opinion. I don’t expect a duplication of last season, but a 4.00 ERA isn’t out of the question.

Yea your probably right…Besides the Rockies were tough last year, and this is a whole new season, and new team for Fogg. As far as Kendrick, If he can keep the ball down like he’s known to, than we should be alright.
