Speaking of getting pitchers, there are some pitchers that recently became available that the phils maybe should bring in if at little cost. Make them wait in AAA with benson and kline for a few more weeks until moyer gets knocked around 5, 6 more times and you have to put somebody else in the rotation.

Yeah basically thats all the top guys. I thought there were more, and you can make arguments for adding more people but thats about it. Maybe throw bedard in there. Man I wish the phils could get their hands on felix but if i were seattle i wouldnt even trade felix for ryan howard or anyone else almost.

Kendrick should do fine against the Astros since he has never faced them before, assuming the defense can back him up. To be totally honest, I am more worried about the defense than the pitching this year. The Phillies gotta have good defense and offense right now, since their current pitching has been much better than expected.

Yeah, you know what i mean though. someone that just goes out there and sits people down for 7+ innings every single time. but there really are only like 10-12 of those guys in the league anyway

I still want more pitching. I like their approach to stockpiling experienced relievers in the minors and seeing if one of them can contribute out of the pen for a roster spot. Thats fine with me because teams with good bullpens dont trade them away anyways so you have to look elsewehere. Starters are different, you have to find them wherever you can, if theyre floating around free at this time of year then fine sign them to a minor league deal and see what they can do (i like what theyre doing with benson, keep him around and see if he can contribute when hes healthy). If theyre on a roster do what you have to do within reason without hurting yourself too much get bring them over. I believe in having too many starters and just finding ways to keep them around until you need them because you will eventually. UI also believe in having 3 studly starters and having a group of people competing for 4th and 5th spots constantly having to prove themselves.

I like this move for right now. However, I wonder how many more starts you give kendrick if he screws up each of them. Id say two ro three more if hes as bad as he was last time out. If he needs to go down to AAA and refine himself then maybe chad durbin can get a start in or maybe kris benson is ready by the end of may. hopefully kendrick will right himself though. I saw him trying to learn how to grip a circle change yesterday, id he can throw that decently thatd help but i still think he needs a wicked curveball. Your out pitch cant be a ground ball.
