Breaking: Phillies sign LHP Steve Kline.
Life without Jimmy Rollins: Blunder-rific.
The Phils lost yesterday, 8-2, but will look to rebound tonight. Good defense is essential, as is timely hitting, especially against the tough John Maine. Adam Eaton gets the call for the road grays. A Phils win would give them a 2-1 series win and bragging rights for the next week.
Rollins is a game-time decision; the Mets today signed Claudio Vargas to a Minor League deal.
Phillies: Adam Eaton (0-1), 3.52 ERA
Mets: John Maine (0-1), 9.00 ERA
Gametime: 7:10 p.m.
Weather: 60 degrees, partly cloudy
Lineup: Victorino/Bruntlett/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Coste/Eaton

Your gameday beer: Last night without Rollins, the Phils looked dead. That’s why Dead Guy Ale is the way to go tonight! It’s a light, crisp beer that has some strong hops inside. Made in Oregon, it’s a good compliment for some grilled chicken and asparagus. Eat classy.
Go Phillies!

Bruntlett gets another start, which I think is a good thing. If the phills want anything out of him, you have to run him out there again to see if he can gain some confidence. However, if he has another performance like yesterday, he better get use to the feel of pine.

Another nice outing so far from Eaton. I hope the Phils don’t waste another good start from him…

Another _terrible_ performance from Bruntlett. Not so much in the field as behind the plate. His inability to bunt the runners over–after Cole Hamels did so and actually got a hit–was infuriating.

ryan howard, victorino, and ruiz are hitting below the mendoza line, feliz is at or near the line. i know its early, but come on guys, make contact with the ball and stop swinging at junk from slop pitchers. the mets bullpen is junk except for wagner. they picked on them a little bit but not nearly enough.

im trying to take it easy on bruntlett but if he doenst turn it around hell be DFA’d or released. anybody can go out there and get the bunt down there. you can bring a guy up from the minors who can go do that for less money. come on. do they have a shortstop thats half-decent somewhere in double or triple a? if they do hed better be ready in about two weeks if eric bruntlett doenst improve

i gave wagner the benefit of the doubt just because he pitched well tonight. his pitches still move nicely. at least we didnt have to watch clay condrey’s junk tonight

Tough loss, the silver lining is another good outing from Eaton. That’s 2 in a row, and both time the Phils haven’t backed him up with much offense.
Bummer…
