And opposing players have gotten hurt at Shea before (even Chipper Jones, the one an we all detest) and those fans may have cheered to begin with but when they realized he was seriously hurt I know they stopped. We would never want to see any player hurt. If Jimmy Rollins was hurt and we beat yall it wouldnt feel the same cause we didnt beat the best yall had. I cannot believe Philadelphia reacted like that. ANd if you disagree with me, search the topic and see what some of yor own players and columnists had to say. You’ll hate yourself for wanting a great person hurt.

I don’t do anything this guy was talking about. I just find it dumb to complain on here when I know the people on here aren’t the people acting like that.

He is coming in here bashing Phillies fans, when most of the people at the Phillies-Mets game did nothing to any Met’s fans (even though a bunch of them I see at Phillies game are obnoxious and I would love nothing more than to kick a plastic bottle at them, I am classier than that). I have season tickets and I know that most of the people who sit around me or who I see at games are classier than that also. I am sick all philadelphia fans of being generalized.

Its such a big issue because it DOESN’T happen everywhere else. And if it has, its equally deplorable. Try to take the high road instead of excusing your crappy attitude with lame excuses. My 3 years olds (twin girls… oh my) use the “She did it first!” excuse all the time. BUT THEY’RE THREE!!!!

Unfortunately, “Sick from Philly”, even if what you are saying is true and someone did actually kick a plastic bottle at you, I guarantee you did something first to escalate the situation and put your girlfriend in danger. No offense, my friend, but let’s review what we know about you.

(1) Direct quote: “It took every ounce of self-respect and reserve to walk out of that stadium without cracking someone’s jaw.” From this, we know that it was indeed a plastic bottle, because there are only plastic bottles allowed in the stadium. We also know that you’re short tempered because you’re ready to fight at the drop of a hat (or kick of a piece of plastic). It didn’t matter who’s jaw you cracked – you just wanted to hit someone.

(2) Direct quotes: “try fucking glass bottles and next time you and your man decide to come to shea wear a fuckin target so i know where to aim my glass” From this we know that you are (a) a liar who got really defensive when he got called on it, (b) a hypocrite who would choose to escalate the violence against a woman, and (c) probably crazier and more short-tempered than any of us initially thought.

(3) You come onto Phillies Nation to whine and complain about your experience. You go out of your way and take time out of your day to go to a Phillies website and complain about their fans. From this we know that you are confrontational. I mean, seriously, what’s was your point? I’m all for inter-city sports discussion, but what did you expect to accomplish?
You: “You guys are animals. I’m ashamed.”
Us: “Point taken. You’ve made us see the light. Tickets for next series are 1/2 off for Mets fans!”
Please. A non-confrontational person would have went on a Mets website to vent, or warn other fans about going to the stadium. You came here to rail on our fans, and that says a lot about you attitude.

So, all in all, you’re confrontational, short-tempered, defensive, and nutty as a fruitcake. That’s the type of visiting fan who escalates the situation by mouthing off, cheering for an obnoxious amount of time, and showing absolutely no respect for your host. And it’s that type of fan than has no business coming into our house.

I’ve been up to Shea many times. I’ve always wore Phillies shirts. I’ve been cursed, threatened, and spit upon. I take it. Not because I don’t have any pride or self-respect, but because (1) I know I am a guest in Shea and (2) I know that responding is only going to land me in the hospital or jail. Keep your mouth shut and don’t respond to provocation, and you’ll be fine. Hundreds of your fellow Mets fans already do that at every Mets/Phils game and have perfectly good experiences.

But yeah, go ahead and throw a bottle at me (a girl) like you threatened. The same exact thing you are complaining about happening to you and your girl. Hypocrite. Like I said it goes both ways, for every bottle throwing Phillies fan, there is a bottle throwing threatening Mets fan- you.

I am just saying it goes both ways. I didn’t kick the bottle at your girlfriend.

It’s sad that ANYONE wearing the visitors gear gets treated like this or worse.

I have both been a part of it, ie: I’m a Sabres fan and got into a fight leaving a game that the Flyers won with two morans that swung at me first with my girlfriend. And I’ve seen PLENTY of this happen to other people…is P-A-T-H-L-E-T-I-C !

I wish the entire sports world acted with class like Packers fans. Where they embrace the visitiing fans…at least that is what I’ve heard 50 times or more.

Billy Wagner hates Philly, no wonder he said those comments. This is definitely not the first time he talked about the Phillies fans.

I understand that it happens in both stadiums, the point that i think you missed is how mets fans cry about it when it happens in philly. How many articles do you see in the papers or stories on the news about how phillies fans were mistreated at shea. You Dont! If you want to edge it on don’t complain about how we treat you when you are hear. Everytime there is an incident its the same old thing, It’s always about how we are horrible people and fans. Same story different year, the media needs to find something else to write about.

And someone correct me if I’m wrong….but Billy Wagner aka The Rat own teammates didn’t like him and not to mention I remember him blowing a few games late in the year of ’05. Although he did have a great year I think what he said about the Phillies not be able to make the playoffs than he ends up losing a few games for the Phillies didn’t do much for him to be re-signed. Irregardless…Lidge is worse?

I was there at the game and thought that was classless indeed, but also did think Reyes embellished a bit to ice Hamels.

Our fans are no worse than Mets fans and no worse than other cities. I was at Superdome for the Eagles-Saints playoff game wearing my jersey andI had about 500 opportunities to fight.
