Now I was not there but i saw video after video of it and you can clearly hear the cheers as soon as people realize Reyes is hurt. Also, if you watch the video you will notice that Reyes said from teh time he could stand that he was okay and would be able to play. The manager and trainer had to take a while to make sure he didnt have a concussion or any side affects, it had nothing to do with Cole Hamels. And, Chase Utley immediately went to Reyes to see if he was okay before, durign adn after the collison. If the opposing player cares shouldnt the fans? Do you guys really want to see someone seriously hurt right in front of you, because Reyes could have been. It is a game and sometimes the fans need to remmeber that. Usually they are the Philly fans (of all sports) but thats ok.And opposing players have gotten hurt at Shea before (even Chipper Jones, the one an we all detest) and those fans may have cheered to begin with but when they realized he was seriously hurt I know they stopped. We would never want to see any player hurt. If Jimmy Rollins was hurt and we beat yall it wouldnt feel the same cause we didnt beat the best yall had. I cannot believe Philadelphia reacted like that. ANd if you disagree with me, search the topic and see what some of yor own players and columnists had to say. You'll hate yourself for wanting a great person hurt.

OK, so I am a Mets fan but more than that I am a huge fan of the game. I am not saying it is right, I am saying, maybe it doesn't happen "everywhere else" but it does happen in other places, and I have experienced it.I don't do anything this guy was talking about. I just find it dumb to complain on here when I know the people on here aren't the people acting like that.He is coming in here bashing Phillies fans, when most of the people at the Phillies-Mets game did nothing to any Met's fans (even though a bunch of them I see at Phillies game are obnoxious and I would love nothing more than to kick a plastic bottle at them, I am classier than that). I have season tickets and I know that most of the people who sit around me or who I see at games are classier than that also. I am sick all philadelphia fans of being generalized.

For his bad experience, I am sure we could find one at Shea. And if it has, its equally deplorable. Try to take the high road instead of excusing your crappy attitude with lame excuses. Save us your whining by just staying home next time. Home field advantage is what it is because the crowd is predominantly fans of the home team. Crowd noise and support is the only direct advantage we can give our teams. When visiting fans pour into the stadium, they take away that edge. Our name calling and chants are meant to discourage you from attending. But it never escalates above name calling unless a visiting fan opens his mouth or does something stupid.Unfortunately, "Sick from Philly", even if what you are saying is true and someone did actually kick a plastic bottle at you, I guarantee you did something first to escalate the situation and put your girlfriend in danger. No offense, my friend, but let's review what we know about you.(1) Direct quote: "It took every ounce of self-respect and reserve to walk out of that stadium without cracking someone’s jaw." From this, we know that it was indeed a plastic bottle, because there are only plastic bottles allowed in the stadium. We also know that you're short tempered because you're ready to fight at the drop of a hat (or kick of a piece of plastic). It didn't matter who's jaw you cracked - you just wanted to hit someone.(2) Direct quotes: "try fucking glass bottles and next time you and your man decide to come to shea wear a fuckin target so i know where to aim my glass" From this we know that you are (a) a liar who got really defensive when he got called on it, (b) a hypocrite who would choose to escalate the violence against a woman, and (c) probably crazier and more short-tempered than any of us initially thought.(3) You come onto Phillies Nation to whine and complain about your experience. You go out of your way and take time out of your day to go to a Phillies website and complain about their fans. From this we know that you are confrontational. I mean, seriously, what's was your point? I'm all for inter-city sports discussion, but what did you expect to accomplish?
You: "You guys are animals. I'm ashamed."
Us: "Point taken. You've made us see the light. Tickets for next series are 1/2 off for Mets fans!"
Please. A non-confrontational person would have went on a Mets website to vent, or warn other fans about going to the stadium. You came here to rail on our fans, and that says a lot about you attitude. So, all in all, you're confrontational, short-tempered, defensive, and nutty as a fruitcake. That's the type of visiting fan who escalates the situation by mouthing off, cheering for an obnoxious amount of time, and showing absolutely no respect for your host. And it's that type of fan than has no business coming into our house.I've been up to Shea many times. I've always wore Phillies shirts. I've been cursed, threatened, and spit upon. I take it. Not because I don't have any pride or self-respect, but because (1) I know I am a guest in Shea and (2) I know that responding is only going to land me in the hospital or jail. Keep your mouth shut and don't respond to provocation, and you'll be fine. Hundreds of your fellow Mets fans already do that at every Mets/Phils game and have perfectly good experiences.

I am sick of visiting fans complaining. Like I said it goes both ways, for every bottle throwing Phillies fan, there is a bottle throwing threatening Mets fan- you.I am just saying it goes both ways. However, he is absolutely correct that the cheering of an injured player is low class. To defend it with comments that "Mets fans are just as bad" is typical Philly. It's long past time for Philadelphians to cheer our own and leave the low-class antics where they belong, to the New Yorkers. Do I like to especially beat the Cowboys? Of course. Do I like to boo them? Of course. Do I love to see T.O. drop passes, or look soft, or some such occurrence when we play? Absolutely. Do I want to see T.O. get hurt? No, not at all. I want to beat him. Do I think there is anything funny or redeeming about shirts that read: "Dallas Sucks, T.O. Swal**ws!"? NO. Low-class is low-class. We should be passionate, not trashy. If he was so hurt, he would have been taken out and he probably wouldn't been able to run home a couple minutes later.Billy Wagner hates Philly, no wonder he said those comments. This is definitely not the first time he talked about the Phillies fans.Sick from Philly: Oh no someone kicked a plastic bottle at you and you girl? How sad. Are you kidding me? Yeah and Mets fans are totally hospitable to Phillies fans who come up to Shea...give me a break. We'll at least now you know how horrible we all are, right? Maybe next time you should stay up in North Jersey to watch the game. This is definitely not the first time he talked about the Phillies fans.

Sick from Philly: Oh no someone kicked a plastic bottle at you and you girl? How sad. Are you kidding me? Yeah and Mets fans are totally hospitable to Phillies fans who come up to Shea…give me a break.

We’ll at least now you know how horrible we all are, right? Maybe next time you should stay up in North Jersey to watch the game. We’ll miss you.

By: Andrew S.

<guid

I think it is just hypocritical to think this does not happen anywhere else.

No doubt the favor would be returned if Jimmy Rollins went down in New York. How many articles do you see in the papers or stories on the news about how phillies fans were mistreated at shea. You Dont! If you want to edge it on don't complain about how we treat you when you are hear. Everytime there is an incident its the same old thing, It's always about how we are horrible people and fans. Same story different year, the media needs to find something else to write about.

re: metfan

I understand that it happens in both stadiums, the point that i think you missed is how mets fans cry about it when it happens in philly. What reason would Reyes possibly have for trying to stall? His jog into left field didn't take 30 seconds, and besides, a Philly player could've been walking around trying to stall for a half hour and it wouldn't bother anyone.and uhh..Don M, you sound a little bitter about something...

I was at the game too and I think it was pretty clear that the boos were for him getting up and being ok. anywhere."Really? And what research was done for that comment? Yep, only Philly boos injured players...just when I think people have brains I read something like this. And someone correct me if I'm wrong....but Billy Wagner aka The Rat own teammates didn't like him and not to mention I remember him blowing a few games late in the year of '05. Although he did have a great year I think what he said about the Phillies not be able to make the playoffs than he ends up losing a few games for the Phillies didn't do much for him to be re-signed. Irregardless...Lidge is worse?

re: Mr Met

“You’re wrong. Booing a player who appears to be hurt is not done<br

However, that being said, it's still embarassing that any fanbase does it period.I was there at the game and thought that was classless indeed, but also did think Reyes embellished a bit to ice Hamels. And enough with the Santa Claus sh*t. He's not real, people. There's more to the story; look it up sometime.

The Mets own announcers said that Met fans cheered when Lastings Milledge got hit by a pitch during the Mets/Nats series last week, so the Met fans coming on here stating otherwise are full of it. Seriously, have you guys noted the disdain in the voice of any sportscenter anchor when they talk about us or our team? Especially Linda Cohn.Ain't it high-time that Temple produced a sportscenter anchor? Our fans are no worse than Mets fans and no worse than other cities. I was at Superdome for the Eagles-Saints playoff game wearing my jersey andI had about 500 opportunities to fight.

The negative media bias doesn’t help us Philly fans anyway… Seriously, have you guys noted the disdain in the voice of any sportscenter anchor when they talk about us or our team?
