Utley’s Bat And Back Help Phils Win

Thanks to No. 26 – literally – the Phils downed the Mets 5-2 for their ninth-straight win against them. 
Utley was hit by three pitches (tying a Major League record for a game), then in the all important seventh inning was nailed by a Carlos Delgado double play throw. Two scored on the play, tying the game. Jayson Werth collected the RBI single that put the Phils ahead. Utley would throw in an RBI double as late insurance.
The big story of the day is Jimmy Rollins’ sprained ankle. Currently it’s being toned down, with Rollins even saying it doesn’t really hurt. Hopefully we’ll have that confirmed tomorrow.
The Phils trailed until that seventh inning, coming up short on countless opportunities. They left 25 men on base, in fact. But Utley and Co. came up big when they needed to off the Mets bullpen. Jamie Moyer went six innings for the win, giving up two runs on four hits; it could’ve been a lot more, but good defense and maybe a bit of wind helped his cause. Chad Durbin lucked out of the seventh, JC Romero labored out of the eighth and Tom Gordon pitched a quick ninth for the save.
