UPDATE (2:27 a.m.): Victorino has been placed on the 15-day DL. The Phillies purchased the contract of Chris Snelling, who will be on the 25-man roster and should be available today.

Shane Victorino suffered a right calf strain during tonight’s game against the Chicago Cubs. He was replaced by Geoff Jenkins, who came into right field, moving Jayson Werth to center field. We’ll have more on this breaking news as it comes.

maybe this time could be good for vic and there can’t possibly be a dropoff in our offensive production due to this with the way he’s been hitting.

Good….Now Maybe he can sit back, and think about how he stunk it up the first 10 games by swinging at every damn pitch. Atleast now Werth can see more playing time, cause I’ll be honest here…Werth seems more of an everyday player, and Victorino could be used off the Bench for pinching, or baserunner if he’s healty. I never been a Flying Hawaiian fan, sorry.

Chris: Vic’s defense will be sorely missed; sure his offense wasn’t that great, but he’s valuable regardless.
BTW, sorry I didn’t get the update in immediately — went out for a few hours.

Everyone said that about Rowand too. Werth might not have Vic’s speed, or Arm, but he can definitly be a powerhouse in the OF as well. Trust me…Even when Vic comes back off the DL, Werth will keep pursing to try to win that starters role if he hasn’t already won it.

I don’t understand why they don’t give Golson a chance. He would provide a bat and stellar defense, he already showed he could compete during spring training. Our lineup has no speed in it without rollins or victorino, and leg injuries have not helped Snelling’s cause.

Against Major League pitching, Golson would have a hell of a time. He still carries bad plate discipline; until he improves that, he won’t have a spot on the roster.
