Of course Manuel wouldn’t like that idea. Why tamper with success of last year when Rollins (.296 BA; .344 OBP; 41 SBs) and Victorino (.281 BA; .347 OBP; 37 SBs) hit 1-2 in the line-up. Victorino also was on the DL last season. Victorino (again) was on DL recently along with Rollins. That accounts for the low number of steals so far this season.

Rollins ,Coste,Burrell,Utley,Werth,Howard,Victorino,Feliz,Pitcher

Your No. 2 guy has to be an on-base guy. Imagine if Manuel structured his order by OBPs, to get the most out of it:

Burrell
Coste
Utley
Rollins
Werth
Jenkins
Howard
Feliz
Pitcher

Charlie’s weak point has always been how he structures his line-up in my opinion. Always going for more preconceived notions of speed at the top instead of factoring in performance.

The fact that our four best hitters hit a brick wall at the same time is still a fluke though, and run production will come. I’m more worried about pitching from the 5th spot and a possible end-of-career for Jamie Moyer.

I like victorino in the 8 hole and coste at 2. You obviously lose sped at the top of the order but we never run anyway and maybe Victorino will help to turn over the lineup a bit better.

Although that might lead to Charlie having to figure out some more double switches. This is clearly not his strong suit.

Agreed. However, the only problem taht i see with our guys right now is, we are not doing good together. right now werth is hitting well and everyone else is kinda struggling. I really do think we will hit our stide and click together. Remember We are ONLY 1.5 games back right now, and we have a big series coming up with the fish. Don’t panic.

Why does everyone insist at putting Victorino in the #2 hole?

He gets out 67 % of the time, career, and 70 % of the time in ’08.

And when he does hit it, it barely clears the infield (slugs under .400 lifetime).

You want him getting more guaranteed at bats than Utley, Howard and Burrell etc?
