The team has tried everything with this guy. They made him the opening day starter. Gave him a huge contract. Stuck with him through his personal problems.

But he’s still an immature child. That stunt on Kendrick in spring training? Well, who the hell would you rather trade to Japan now? The guy with five quality starts (Kendrick), or the guy with, what, one? And the part about all that that really cemented Myers in my mind as a pissant frat boy was his punch line of the joke: “You’ve been PUNK’D!” he told Kendrick. Punk’d? Ashton Kucher? Are you fuckin’ kidding me? Responsible adults don’t even know who Ashton Kucher is, let alone imitate him. High-paid team leaders on World Series contenders don’t act like drunk fraternity boys.

Myers is supposed to be our ace, one of our team leaders. He couldn’t lead or pitch his way out of Lakewood right now. He’s consistently demonstrated that he has an $8 million arm and a 10-cent head (i.e. doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together). He’s stinking it up as I type this — against the Braves, a team we MUST consistently beat.

I’ll give him respect when he grows up, but not a minute sooner.

That lineup gives them the best chance to win, especially with their starting pitching woes.

Werth in center is fine… but one of Victorino’s most valuable assests is his arm… someone made a great point about how many more chances you get for assists, or to stop a runner going 1st-to-3rd on you when you have Victorino in RF… Werth isn’t Rowand…or Victorino… but he’s a very good player.. a great addition to this team, and I think he’s getting the correct amount of playing time right now… If Jenkins wants more starts, he needs to get his bat going and make it impossible to sit him…

In the right deal no Phillies outfielder is untouchable with regards to trading (in fact the only untouchables on the whole team are Utley and Hamels)

If Werth stays healthy and plays as well as he has—he basically will have gotten his career back on track as a legit starting major league outfielder. I’d say keep him—cause he prob will be cheap for a while.

dude, what team in their right mind will give you anything for taguchi? nobody will even want him thrown into a trade (or id be surprised at least). he has to be released or DFA’d/claimed on waivers in order for him to go anywhere.

werth isnt going anywhere. not unless they want to bring up golson or some outfielder and include werth in a trade for a number 2 starter. even then, though, i still would rather not trade werth. find some other guy to trade.

Last night was a great win because the Phils proved that they can win without a home run! Also Howard got a huge 2 out hit with a runner on third – a situation that he k’ed in earlier in the game.

Tonight is a huge game for Myers – Eaton’s last start was billed as D-day on this site and I think that start is getting close for Myers.

Hindsight being what it is, I’ll still take a 5-4 victory with Werth’s 4 RBIs in exchange for the solitary run Lidge now has against his ERA as opposed to a 4-1 loss because Victorio makes that play with Jenkins standing to his left.
