Gamenight: Rockies (20-31) At Phillies (29-24)

Yesterday the Phillies scored their most single-game runs in almost a decade. The offense is heating up now, so hopefully they can continue the pain when Ubaldo Jimenez lines up against the good guys tonight. He has fared well in his past three starts, going into the seventh in each. Kyle Kendrick, meanwhile, hasn’t pitched much in the past two weeks (5 IP his last start, a rain-shortened inning and change before that).

Pedro Feliz has raised his average 50 points in a week. Ryan Howard and So Taguchi are the last Phillies to climb over the Mendoza Line, with Taguchi doing so last night with a 3-for-5 effort. Geoff Jenkins returns to the lineup tonight, and Greg Dobbs starts in left field for Pat Burrell, however, as a right-hander takes the hill.

Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (3-2) 5.19 ERA
Rockies: Ubaldo Jimenez (1-4) 4.61 ERA

Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 76 degrees, possible storms
Lineup: Rollins, Victorino, Utley, Howard, Dobbs, Jenkins, Feliz, Ruiz, Kendrick

Your gameday beer: Truly one of the best beers in the world, Rodenbach Grand Cru, a Flanders red ale, is an absolute treat. Brewed with aged malt and yeast and then mixed with other old ales, it’s a fine collection of flavors — all natural flavors. Has a distinct cherry taste. You can get it at Monk’s in Philly. I suggest it. Drink it with some smoked halibut.

Go Phillies!

Howard was safe, and Mike, I have had a couple of the dishes I’ve recommended.

I gotta say, I’m loving every minute of this. I want Colorado absolutely stunned, and rocked when they leave. To be on a tear like this, and having the Marlins coming to town….good things are starting to happen.

Look at the rising batting averages! This is the lineup (besides Burrell and Coste – although Dobbs is on fire) we have been waiting for! I also really like seeing the Phils scoring runs without hitting a lot of homers – even last night to hit only two and still score 20 runs! Hopefully we can keep this up!

Well I’m watching the game on my computer, so I don’t comment too much. Also, I just got in from my nightly run. Also, I’m trying to write some other things.

Also, yeah, halibut is fantastic. I love broiled fish.

Lost in this nice offensive showing is the fantastic, possibly career-best start by Kendrick. He’s been smooth, even dominant.

They should call this game and end the Rockies’ misery.

    Call tomorrow’s game too…

Rockies don’t have half their team as well. Something to remember.

Hey, who cares — they had to pound this team with their situation, and they are. This is what great teams do.

Should we worry about that homer Flash just allowed?

No, but we should worry about the double he just allowed.

No, Gordon needed work. These guys haven’t pitched in a few days. It was the right move.

    Ugh, just call the game.

In St. louis, last call is the first pitch of the bottom of the eighth. Is it the same at CBP? If so, weren’t the umps kind of cruel?

    Finally, a win.

And yeah, I can’t wait to come back to Philly and hit up Monk’s.

I think Kendrick took our advice and has started to develop some kind of an out pitch. His changeup looked better than Ive ever seen it look. If he can keep improving that pitch and improve a breaking pitch then hell be much more effective. He pitched pretty well last night.
