Just read that Hewitt is being looked at to play 3rd base and will be in a Phillies uniform in 3-4 years.

This was a brilliant draft. The phillies essentially passed on a first round pick, and drafted a player at a position they are solid at. If they can piss off jimmy rollins today than they will have completed the trifecta

I actually kind of like the young kids they’re getting. We already have a pretty young team. By the time some of these kids are ready to play Victorino, Werth, Burrell, etc. will be past their time. Looks like we might have 2 outfielders and Golsen as our 3rd. Cardeans on 2nd Utley on 1st. Things looking pretty good.

If you go to college for one year, but sign before next years draft, you are still Phillies property, right?

Go to http://www.sr950.com there is an interview with the Editor-in-Chief of Baseball America, who calls this kid the best overall athlete in the entire draft…and he is projected as a Centerfielder in MLB, we all could use a speedy outfielder with power in the farm system… good pick by the Sillies… lets hope they also get some college-level pitching help

Also, word is Hewitt’s ‘yes’ to Vanderbilt means he’ll be tough to sign, meaning the Phils won’t sign him, meaning this first round pick meant ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Well, that’s something to hang your hat on. Not a good pick, really, as the Phils stay with their tools/project creed. There were other options they could’ve filled that would’ve been MLB-ready in less time. It’s not even certain this kid will ever see the Majors.

Hewitt….sounds like he has tools out the roof…..but ESPN analysts say he’s verey raw and is 5-6 years from MLB. Could be a bust or superstar. Must be Reggie Taylor’s little bro.
