I thought McCarthey thanked Eaton for doing the interview when I heard it. Then Eaton said what he said…I guess I should stop doing dishes during the late innings.

and harry is treated like shit by this management. he should be allowed to call the shots and do whatever the fuck he wants. he’s a legend. he should have joe paterno – like powers with this organization.

Not a big deal to me, but I hate the in game interview in general. How many times this year has Tom McCarthy been interviewing some random doofus or giving a report when something big happens in the game. Then he steps all over it and Harry is left to either give a late call or describe what already was described.

It’s a disgrace what the organization is doing to Harry. Look at other broadcasts like I do every night on the extra innings package and you’ll get a better sense of how poorly he is treated.

Not a big deal.

Heres my big thing though: its ok to be critical as I am, even harsh at times, during the season and stuff. But once the playoff rosters are set and the playoffs begin, I really dont like to get all negative until after its all over win or lose. Thats really annoying. It annoyed me when people got that way with the flyers. If you listened to some of those people, they said theyd lose like every game. thats so annoying and childish.

once the playoffs start ill be behind them completely because i know that the players are who they are and theres nothing that can be done. regardless of all the shortcomings they have, of which there are certantly some holes to fill here, once they get there then i expect them to win and will approach the situation as such.

I thought it was hilarious. Here is a guy that is leading the team in quality starts this year, and walked into the game with a 1-3 record and still was routinely crucified by the fans and media.

Last year when he was terrible, he never ran from the press or camera and took full responsibilty for his failings. He made a joke, when he had the lead and was already in line for a win.

Not a big deal at all, and in fact I think it shows the looseness of the clubhouse, and the comfort Eaton has with the guys in the clubhouse. Let’s not be Mets fans and look for subtext in everything. Let’s enjoy this good run that the team and Eaton is on, and hope it continues.

I think he was just making a joke. I mean, how could a pitcher in his right mind actually chastise his teammates for run support? Does anyone possibly believe that an offensive crew tries less hard for runs because a given pitcher is on the mound?

What Eaton said was the baseball equivalent of “Of course it’s going to rain this weekend. I’m going to the beach!”

Don’t take it so seriously Tim. I agree with Phil and Jeffrey that it’s a “locker room” joke. Obviously, his team mates know him better than us and understand that kind of humor. It was a spontaneous and euphoric moment of feeling good about his performance that allowed him to toss off a harmless joke.

My complaint is why Tom McCarthy allowed to do a interview DURING a inning when the Phillies are mounting a threat with consecutive hits. It’s a HUGH distraction; at least for me. I have seen WAY TOO much of this with McCarthy all over the place providing anedotes/stories/interviews that are NOT directly related to game situations at hand. I want to stay focus on every pitch of the game. Period.

That’s all it is really, everyone is an Eaton hater. They can’t get last years season out of their minds. He was hurt last year, but this year Eaton’s leading the team in quality starts. Not saying he’s our ace or anything, but in all honesty, he’s our 2nd or 3rd best starter right now. That’s actually really sad and it shows how much we need to get another 1 or 2 pitcher.

I think you are letting your dislike of Eaton show. He’s done a good job this year. I thought he was just busting on his teammates and enjoying the moment.
