You know what, nevermind...our bullpen does suck. They should have a combined 0.00 ERA. Lidge sucks too. He's let up 3 runs. Our starters should have a 0.00 ERA too, and we should go 162-0.

Wow, then you’re the most negative douche bag on the planet. Also, one guy having a bad night in the bullpen means that it is starting to falter is insane. There are 6 other guys in the bullpen other than Lidge and Gordon. Condrey pitched 2 scoreless innings last night. Romero pitched 1 scoreless inning. The best bullpen in the majors blows games. it happens. You can't say it's faltering.

I brought up the Braves series. While we can't get overconfident with a four-game lead, we can't go bezerk with two straight losses. Yeah this loss was bad, but I think the team knows its problems (need one more starter, insurance for the 'pen and more patient at bats). These aren't huge holes to fill by any means, and for the love of God, THEY ARE A GOOD TEAM.One thing that struck me listening to the Marlins broadcast was Charlie Manuel was asked how they got two nights off in S. Florida (Sunday, Monday). Manuel said they didn't need it.Now, the two nights off could've messed with their hot hitting; moreover, they likely partied it up in S. Florida. How much would that play into their game? Who knows, maybe a little.

I’m glad to note it’s only June. Our starters were outpitched for those games too, but our bullpen got it done. Their bullpen couldn't. I hope they get hot for when the American League comes to Philly or we're in big trouble.

Oh, also…the Phillies bats were cold during the Braves sweep too. See, here's what you're not understanding...HAMELS PITCHED A BETTER GAME!!! Did you watch the game? Did you watch Hamels stuff vs Millers stuff? One of Cantu's home runs was a bad pitch. A fast ball up in the zone. The other was a trash change-up. He got lucky to hit a home run off of that. Even Cantu said it himself in the post game. Miller did not pitch better, the Phillies offense were just not getting it done. They weren't patient. They didn't wait for their pitch. Miller didn't have a 13k/1bb ratio. Miller through a lot more pitches. Miller got taken out earlier because he threw a lot more pitches. Just because you let up 1 run doesn't mean you pitched a better game. Miller got lucky that the Phillies didn't bring their bats tonight. Now, Nollasco last night pitched a really good game. His curveball is nasty. That kid is going somewhere. Miller has good stuff too, but Hamels stuff was much better last night.

No, it doesn’t stand for that. I never said he sucked, in fact I say he pitched great. I agree with you more often than not, in fact, I agree with almost everything you said that last vitrol fueled rampage. But, to say the second solo shot Hamels gave up didn't hurt us as much as Werth's bunt is just not true. In those close games you just can't have those lapses.

Phil, calm down. I never said Hamels blows. I think he was matched last night. I think santana is a match. the nationals guy just has some sort of satanic ritual voodoo-type hex that he has on the phillies when he faces them.see, about the bats being cold though. yeah taht happens sometimes. but pitchers with good stuff and good starting pitchers always make the phillies bats go cold. i cant remember the last time they knocked around a bonafide ace like hardcore. they jsut dont do it that often. why? because nobody does it to them. they get rocked like twice a year.why is that? because their stuff overpowers hitters and makes them swing at garbage. its why pitching wins championships. i thought a few guys got themselves out last night though, and thats what you cant do. (carlos ruiz, werths bunt).the bottom line is that even though the phillies will probably win the division, although if they keep this up they wont, they still have an inferior rotation. brett myers doesnt even belong in the same sentence as ben sheets or dan haren or brandon webb or even cole hamels. hes like one tenth as good as them because he gets rattled and is wildly inconsistent from one start to the next. maybe you can have him at the back of the rotation, i could live with that actually. but hes NOT a number two. ben sheets on the other hand? yeah they need him, start rooting against milwaukee so they become resigned to losing him. id give up something like bastardo, happ, cardenas, plus one or two other not as notable guys. tahts a big haul and a big risk so theyd BETTER sign him to an extension.

I dont think he was outpitched either. When he leaves having given up two runs, as opposed to the opposing pitcher having given up one it stands to fact the opposing pitcher outpitched him. We can blame it on the bats all we want. Thing is Hamels gave up to solo home runs, and the opposing pitcher kept the ball in the park. I think Hamels pitched great last night. No doubt about it. Miller pitched better though. And thats happened a few times to Hamels this year.

If Brett Myers or Adam Eaton gave up a solo home run handing the lead back to the Marlins after the Phils tied it up, they’d be crucified here.

Thing is I have higher standards for Hamels than I do for Myers, Eaton, or anyone in the rotation. He let up 2 runs in 8 innings and struck out 13 while walking 1. FIRE THE WHOLE ROTATION!!! EVEN HAMELS CAN'T GET IT DONE!!! Stop blaming Cole Hamels and blame the fucking offense. Maybe if they would have actually did something like work the count and get walks instead of swinging at garbage then they woulda scored a few more runs and Tom Gordon would have never had to come in. Pitchers having bad outings, and yes, the bullpens do too. When Lidge blows a save this year, and yes, it will happen, does that mean we need a new closer. I'm not going to argue about Myers, he blows, but come on, Hamels and Gordon have pitched well all year. They had a few bad outings each. It fucking happens. Everyone would love to get Sabathia and his 1st 3 outings he got totally annihilated. Maybe we shouldn't get him either. And stop saying this isn't a good team. It is a good team, great team...no. The only reason it isn't a good team is because we're lacking 1 starter. Eaton, Moyer, and Kendrick are pitching exceptionally well right now, so is Hamels. I feel confident when any of those 4 take the mound. The offenses bats have gone cold. It's going to happen. They aren't always going to score 5 or more runs a game. They went on a tear for 3 weeks and were killing the ball. This is baseball. You can't go 162-0.

Yeah, Hamels blows. He let up 2 runs in 8 innings and struck out 13 while walking 1. FIRE THE WHOLE ROTATION!!! You can’t go 162-0.

By: Gavin

<guid

2. Our bullpen is beginning to falter (exception, Lidge).
3. Our offense is showing consistent signs of inconsistency. What does this result in?
Everyone at this point knows: We're just not a good team right now.

What have we learned from the last 2 games?

1. Our starting rotation is incomplete.<br

Look at the numbers. 13ks/1BB is fucking impressive. I don't think Hamels was out pitched. The Phillies were swinging at total fucking garbage tonight. They weren't working the count. I was at the game with Santana. He wasn't out pitched that night either. I was right behind home plate. Santana has good stuff, really good stuff, but the once again the Phillies bats were totally cold. The game against the Nats, opening night, was there too. Once again, he wasn't outpitched. The Phillies bats were really cold. The guy on the nats isn't even a good pitcher. The Phillies offense just couldn't get it done. You can't say Hamels was out pitched when he was throwing better stuff than the opposing pitcher.

I don’t think Hamels was out pitched.
