Please, please, please.

The Phillies have now lost six straight games and turn to Kyle Kendrick to get them back on track. He didn’t pitch well his last time out against Boston, but he’s normally good for 6 IP and 3 ER, you know, a Kendrickian start.

Sad thing is the Phils may not get the three runs to match it. Smith is a rookie hurler and hasn’t been too bad this season. Small preview tonight: My friends made a dynamite Thai bouillabaisse.

But I have to note that Charlie Manuel is breaking out a completely new lineup, the lineup he should’ve had out there for a while now. Jayson Werth leads off; Chase Utley is at the two-hole; Jimmy Rollins is hitting third; Pat Burrell and Ryan Howard (DH) swap power positions; Shane Victorino is in the seven-hole to provide speed for Chris Coste and nine-hole hitter Eric Bruntlett.

Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (6-3) 5.06 ERA
Athletics: Greg Smith (4-5) 3.51 ERA

Gametime: 10:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 62, sunny
Lineup: Werth, Utley, Rollins, Burrell, Howard, Feliz, Victorino, Coste, Bruntlett

Your gamenight beer: Tonight we need something hearty and strong. Go with Stovepipe Porter by Otter Creek. It’s hard as hell but fills you up. This team needs to fill up with offense. Weird transition? Sure. Eat some ribs with this.

Go Phillies!

I am watching the game on gameday not live, but where that last pitch was located it looked like it was really inside.

definitely must get a 72 hour window if youre making the sabathia trade

  • 4 IP no hits? What’s with that?

i think you have to keep vic. i was in favor of trading him earlier in the
    season.

but dude, geoff jenkins cant plat at all. taguchi should just retire.

youve got three guys and nothing behind them in the outfield. tj bohn is better than taguchi. maybe some other call up can replace jenkins.

outfield is really thin in my opinion.

werth is just as injury prone as vic so their the same in reliablitly i think… i dont think sabathia is worth it. our best prosepects for someone we cant resign…better options i think

If we were to trade Vic and then Werth goes down to another wrist injury, what happens? we’re down to like one legit major league outfielder. jenkins and taguchi dont fit that category.

It’s true Geoff, but what are you going to do trade Werth? One of them is going. It’s unfourtunate but that’s just the way it is.

the indians said they wont give that window to try to sign him

no hitter gone. ground rule double. kendrick still needs to develop a bit more to be able to get a no no or get really close to one. must get out of this inning with no runs though.

I feel like Burrell should’ve cought up with that. Sure didn’t seem like he was running full speed.

Aw, there goes Kendrick’s no hitter phillie phanatic jinxed him.

seriously, just DFA jenkins, pay him to go away. you wont get anything of value for him.

Damn. Let’s not have the “if Burrell was DH’ing tonight Kendrick could have a no-hitter” talk. Seriously. Not worth it.

burell is a better defender then any1 on the bench…he mite be slow but he catches eveything that is anywhere close to him with an above average arm

This season…he’s dropped so many routine fly balls in his career.

If anybody was getting any ideas of a no hitter all I can say is, baby steps. Let’s maybe get a few more scoreless innings or not a complete meltdown. And maybe even a win.

nice. get away unscathed through some pressure

‘Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon was suspended indefinitely by the team Wednesday for insubordination after reportedly grabbing general manager Ed Wade by the neck and throwing him to the ground.’

Could this be the reason the Phils have started playing better??

I wasn’t really expecting a no hitter NEPA, but how awesome would it be to see one out of Kendrick?

haha that would rule CZ. Man, imagine Kendrick pitched a no no and Utley hit for the cycle all in the same game? lol Well, hopefully 1 of them still happens.

for kendrick, its encouraging to see improvement and see a guy figure it out more and more over his young career. he struggles sometimes. but he really has been fairly solid this season for them. thats why i wouldnt trade him. you just dont trade away good young pitching.

honestly, that would be RETARDED for a team thats been starved for yuoung pitching for ages

    Howard made contact :)

Feliz is on pace to have 75 RBIs. That’s not bad for a 7th hole hitter.

3 runs! This team is bustin’ out of the slump in a big way!

phil what do you think about howard at least attempting to drop one down there…no men on and no out… i like the idea of men on insteading of tring for a homerun that is pretty unlikely.thoughtS?

    yeah.

who thinks jenkins will be on this team next year?

I know, and a lot of it has been situational small ball. I like to see that. They need to stop relying on the long ball.

i know taguchi wont be on the team by playoff time, thats for sure. no chance in hell. you need more than that in the playoffs

Is it me, or does anyone else not give a turd if Utley hits for the cycle? I just want to win.

great teams can single a team to death

I know what your saying Phil, I was gonna mention the no no bid before but I didn’t want to jinx it, so clearly I was hoping. But I was just saying it wasn’t realistically gonna happen, but the Phils are still winning so who really cares.

He should def. attempt a bunt down the 3B line sometimes to keep them modest. I’ve been saying that since day 1 when they said he was a pull hitter and did the shift on him.

Danny, cycle would just be icing on the cake.

Jenkins the worst pickup by Gillick? Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Any of these A’s outfielders would do just a good job for 1/15 of the salary.

I want to see Utley come out of his slump just as much as I want to see them win, so a cycle would be incredible. Part of the reason this team is losing is because of Utley’s horrible slump.

beautiful. if vic was to get traded, i think i would take it pretty rough. seeing him ram into a catcher at homeplate in a different uniform would be a tough sight to see.

How did Vic score from 1st on a single?!

I would trade anyone but the obvious folks for CC.

Bloop single that the CF dove for and couldnt come up with. It didnt get past but he couldnt get it in in time. Oh, and inhuman Victorino speed.

The fielder wound up on his ass trying to make a diving play.

id say eaton was our worst signing…respectable yeaar this year but terrible last year and not worth what he getting paid. 8 mil should be spent on a number 2 not a 4 or 5

could be. but he DID trade for an injured guy who couldnt make it through one rotation cycle. thats pretty bad. eaton was bad not but the worst. so taguchi doesnt count because it was cheap. they actually gave jenkins a bit of coin.

    its arguable

    worst gillick move?

    a – eaton
    b – jenkins
    c – barajas
    d – garcia
    e – taguchi

    thoughts anyone?

agreed. when you pay a pitcher that much hes got to at least be a number 3

Good call chris… The Eaton and Jenkins signings are neck and neck in the Gillick shit signings dept!

CC is #5 on my list for pitchers they should acquire for several reasons. #1 he’s in a contract year. #2 he’s a lefty our 2 best pitchers right now are lefties and it wouldn’t be good to be overstacked with them. #3 He has A-Rod syndrome. #4 the Red Sox crush him(who would be most likely our WS match up if we made it.)

    d) we would ahave some serious trade peices right now if it wasnt for that… DON M will be pissed if he sees this lol

I’d give the Garcia trade his #1 mistake. At least Eaton won 10 games for us last year and has been pitching okay this year. What did Garcia do besides destroy our farm and get injured?

Dude, the A’s totally suck and we shoulda swept them.

I’d be more concerned with winning the division and winning a playoff series than predicting who our World Series opponent would be at the moment. And most players do very well in contract years…
