Please, please, please.
The Phillies have now lost six straight games and turn to Kyle Kendrick to get them back on track. He didn’t pitch well his last time out against Boston, but he’s normally good for 6 IP and 3 ER, you know, a Kendrickian start.
Sad thing is the Phils may not get the three runs to match it. Smith is a rookie hurler and hasn’t been too bad this season. Small preview tonight: My friends made a dynamite Thai bouillabaisse.
But I have to note that Charlie Manuel is breaking out a completely new lineup, the lineup he should’ve had out there for a while now. Jayson Werth leads off; Chase Utley is at the two-hole; Jimmy Rollins is hitting third; Pat Burrell and Ryan Howard (DH) swap power positions; Shane Victorino is in the seven-hole to provide speed for Chris Coste and nine-hole hitter Eric Bruntlett.
Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (6-3) 5.06 ERA
Athletics: Greg Smith (4-5) 3.51 ERA
Gametime: 10:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 62, sunny
Lineup: Werth, Utley, Rollins, Burrell, Howard, Feliz, Victorino, Coste, Bruntlett

Your gamenight beer: Tonight we need something hearty and strong. Go with Stovepipe Porter by Otter Creek. It’s hard as hell but fills you up. This team needs to fill up with offense. Weird transition? Sure. Eat some ribs with this.
Go Phillies!

The Sox crush CC?? Imagine what’d they’d do to Myers! 37 runs in the first inning of game 2!

True Mark T, but some players just can’t play well in the post season.

Yea, I was gonna say, I don’t care how he does against the Red Sox or any AL team. If we got got him and ended up in the WS, I think he’d have earned his keep.

Wow, so Kendrick is at 6 scoreless innings with 79 pitches. Think we have a CG shut out on our hands? Thoughts anyone?

I hope we don’t score any more today. This is fine. We don’t need 15 runs fellas.

i would take CC is they gave us that 72 hr window to try to sign him… but is it worth spening that much on one pitcher…i think gra teams our great teams bc of those little signings not the A rod type guy who takes up so much payroll

If you noticed that’s why it was my 4th and least most concern.

Danny another run or 2 won’t hurt. It just shows there is consistency. I’d like to see Bruntlett and Werth get a hit.

Coste 2 RBIs? What’s that? Ruiz is on suicide watch?

Yea, I agree with all your other points though. And I guess the Red sox thing could eventually be a concern.

roll players make great teams… when you have a guy at 22 mil a year you dont have money for roll players

yeah. i know they wont resign him so it seems like a waste of the farm system that we dont have anyway. i want some of those top propsects to contribute next year and beyond.
cc would require like all your untouchables. i think if they trade away most or all the untouchable prospects theyll REALLY suck in a few years.

Oh, I also wouldn’t mind more runs if it is Utley hitting for the cycle.

Jenkins will probably be next years Helms, traded to any team that will pay the minimum salary with the Phillies picking up the rest. I could also see the Phillies doing this next year with Eaton.

i agree. i actually think they can get a mediocre prospect for eaton in the offseason. id do it too. the free agent pitching out there will be better than him anyway. even the middle of the road free agents.
jenkins is defintiely next years helms. ill be nerviously checking in here during spring training every 5 minutes hoping they traded jenkins for future considerations or cash

So Kendrick has gone 7 scoreless innings with 91 pitches. I say leave him in another inning. Thoughts?

I still like Utley 3rd if he’s finally coming out of this funk as it appears. You know, more RBI opportunities and still guaranteed to bat in the 1st.

Utley 3rd Dobbs 2nd actually.

i like the lineup…maybe consider switching utley and rollins.. or vic to number 2 and rollins to 6 or vic 1 and werth 2 and rollins 6

Last couple balls were hit hard. I’d pull him, keep his confidence after a great outing, and turn it over to our MLB leading bullpen. We need this win too badly to risk a big inning.
