Gamenight: Reds (28-30) At Phillies (34-25)

The Phillies will try to climb to 10-games over .500 with a win tonight against the Cincinnati Reds. Individually, Chase Utley is seeking to hit a home run in his sixth-straight game, which would be a franchise record (he had a crack at this record already this season). Utley leads the world in homers with 21 through 59 games.
Ken Griffey Jr. is still not in the Reds lineup, so the 600 watch is off again. Seems like they want Griffey to hit 600 at home, eh? Jay Bruce is in the lineup, however, as he’s been nothing short of a man possessed since being called up to the Bigs. Â
Cincinnati throws Aaron Harang out there. He and Eaton faced each other back on April 5. Eaton had his best start of the year to date at that time, and Harang also pitched well. Neither got a decision, as the Reds came back late to tie and win the game.Â
Phillies: Adam Eaton (1-3) 4.99 ERA
Reds: Aaron Harang (2-7) 3.81 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 79 degrees, mostly cloudy
Lineup: Rollins, Victorino, Utley, Howard, Burrell, Jenkins, Feliz, Ruiz, Eaton

Your gamenight beer: For Adam Eaton, it’s a long road to redemption, and redemption is a beverage served ice-cold, correct? So have some Redemption tonight. It’s a smooth citrus-style beer that goes well with beef lo mein. Get your Redemption and watch Eaton try to find his.Â
Go Phillies!

I’ll alright with Coste staying in, but his knees won’t hold up. I love how Cincinnati is trying to hold off history until the Great American Ballpark. Well, more importantly than the Jat Bruce flash in the pan is the real deal Chase Utley going for a franchise record once again.

At least it was a solo shot. Phils needed to get at least one run in the first, though.

Great performance by Eaton tonight I must admit. Very nice, in fact. two good performances in a row. they still need a number two starter, but its nice to see eaton shut it down tonight.

Wow. Eaton with a jab at the offense.
McCarthy: “Jimmy Rollins with a double. Men on second and third with no outs. So Phils coming on now.”
Eaton: “Makes sense. I’m out of the game.”
Love that d-bag.

Had to rewind that to make sure that’s what I actually heard. How quickly Eaton forgets his 10 Wins last year with an ERA of like 6.29.

This is Eaton’s 3rd good start in a row. He pitched a really good game against the Stros a couple of weeks ago.

very nice. lidge got the save- and i’m not sure he had his best stuff tonight. 2 out of 2 here. just have to win 1 of the next 2 to win the series.
sad to see vic’s hitting streak end and Ut’s HR steak end – but the W is all that matters.
tons of credit to Eaton.

time to dig back into the archives to find out who it was that said “we need a big homestand. i mean 8-2 big” that’s not exactly right but it’s close. whoever that was, good call. resting at 7-1, it looks like we can hit the mark or even beat it. if we’re playing like this now, imagine the team in september.
