Vladimir Guerrero, how we used to know thee.
A Montreal Expo from 1996-2003, Guerrero has been one of the absolute best hitters in baseball. This season the 32-year-old is hitting .279 with 10 HR and 37 RBI, not great numbers, but check this:
- In 10 full seasons, Guerrero had nine 100-RBI seasons. Only in an injury-shortened 2003 did he have less.
- Guerrero has hit .300 every season since 1997. Yeah, every season. He’s a career .323 hitter. Yeah. .323.
- He’s been a top-10 MVP candidate six times, winning once, in 2004, his first season with the Angels.
- Oh, his Baseball Reference similar batter is Willie Mays.
Guerrero is a Hall of Famer. And he torched the home team during his days with the Expos. Look at these numbers:
G – 88
AVG – .366
HR – 28
RBI – 79
SB – 13
OPS – 1.181
Guerrero hits the Phils better than any team for his career (save maybe the Rangers). Good God, this weekend will be fun.
