Todd Zolecki reports the Phillies have activated Jayson Werth to the 25-man roster, sending outfielder Chris Snelling down to AAA Lehigh Valley. Snelling is out of options, Zolecki reports, and can accept the assignment within three days or become a free agent.
If I’m Snelling I accept the assignment and play out some time with the IronPigs. He could find his way onto a Major League roster (the Red Sox come to mind), but it’s not very likely he’ll find a better situation than Philadelphia.

If I’m Chris Snelling I hire an agent and have him contact all clubs that may have a need for an 26 yr old outfielder with some playing time in both leagues since 2005.
Hopefully, Werth is platoon with hot hitting Jenkins in RF. Werth, batting right, can’t hit righthanded pitchers (.224 BA; 17 for 76 with 20 K’s). Jenkins (batting left) on the other hand, is hitting .299 with 6 HRs and 17 RBIs against righthanded pitchers. A logical platoon if ever there is one.

Snelling is a good bat but with his tendancy to get injured, I think he is best off with the Pigs myself and coming up to the Phillies when we need him.

chris snelling was traded for cash by the nationals. he was not good enough to still be on their last place team. he belongs in AAA helping that outfield improve as a unit.
