After a poor 8-2 loss to the Braves, the Phillies will need to get some wins. Today Cole Hamels will try and halt the skid.
Ham Sandwich: Cole Hamels has received poor run support in two of his last three starts. He lost his last, a 3-2 game to the Marlins, Sunday.
Brave New World: The Braves got their first win against the Phillies since April with the 8-2 victory.
Chip Off Tonight’s Block: Chase Utley broke an 0-fer with a hit in the ninth inning Friday night. He hasn’t hit a home run since July 7.
It’s Mike!: Mike Hampton will attempt (again) to make his first start in three years today. If the Phils were to start hitting, this would be a perfect time.
Phillies: Cole Hamels (9-6) 3.11 ERA
Braves: Mike Hampton (0-0) 0.00 ERA [Debut]
Gametime: 3:55 p.m. EST
Weather: 86, sunny
Lineup:
MLB TV
MLB Gameday Audio
MLB Gameday
Your gameday beer: Here is Blue Moon’s summer offering, Honey Moon Summer Ale. It’s a very sweet beer, one you can enjoy on a hot summer day as this. I don’t advise it regularly, but like Blue Moon itself, it’s a nice fallback this season.
Go Phillies!

Relax, Fred. Don’t pull a hammy now. Maybe you should have had an explosive inning like that at Shea.

I think the Phillies aren’t in an offensive slump anymore.

Don’t be testy now because you lost 1st place. Relax. I love baseball as well, but it is JUST a game. We do have issues that are more important than what happens in game.

David… i seem to remember we did have an explosive inning like that at Shea. Could have used a couple more of them, but I didn’t see the brooms out in Flushing.

If it’s just a game, why are you spending so much time on the internet attempting to wind up phillies fans ? Don’t you have any freinds who you can go celebrate being in first place with ?

The brooms should of been out but the Mets gave the first game to the Phillies on a plater.

I admit that the Mets bullpen is pretty inefficient, and thanks to the reemergence of Delgado, we’ve been doing well. What you guys need is your bullpen to come through, because your tiny ballpark makes it susceptible for hitters like the Mets to hit bombs, as our players are used to hitting balls out of a bigger ballpark. Your guys will hit, but will your starters last? Cole gave up a nine-spot today. I wonder if it was more mental than physical.
I am glad that this rivalry is strong, as I drive down to Philly often. Just keep in mind that as we sit here and beat each other up, the Marlins are close by. Likely, the NL Central is a lot stronger than ANY team in our division, so let’s not forget that either.
For the sake of my team, I hope you lose today. For the sake of your team’s psyche, you guys need to win.
Fair?

I told you not to panic but maybe that was because I time traveled to see Dobbs get the big hit.

You know what…all season we were saying the Red Sox were the best team in baseball. Now they’re tied in 2nd with the Yankees who came back. Are we still going to say the BoSox are the best team in baseball? They’re having bigger problems than we are. If the Phillies offense can produce like they did today all season I think we’ll be in good shape. I’m glad to see them smiling, high fiving, and having general interest in the game.

Best feeling in the world getting back in my car after hitting up the driving range and seeing a 10-9 game. I wish this game was on TV.

If we don’t get another run in the bottom of the 8th, Lidge needs to be lights out. I mean 1-2-3 inning. No problems at all. That’s if we get out of the top of the 8th alive.

CC,shouldn’t you be out on the field doing warmups? Your game is about to start. Pinch Fielder in the ass and give him a wedgie for us, too.

Utley made a great diving catch to get McCann out. Lidge is warming up. Anyone nervous about that after last night?

Diving stop for the 2nd out last inning. CC, good luck with that. You could bat cleanup for us anytime.

Hey C.C. I speculate that the Giants are going to sign you. You should learn to play 1B and pitch every 5 days. You could bat 4th in that line-up no questions asked. You’d also have the best 1-2-3 punch in baseball over there.

yeah, Lidge was scary last night. Not quite Adam Eaton scary, but scary.

Can you catch Mr. Sabathia? I bet you can call a game, you know pitches and such. Can your fat ass squat behind the plate though?

here comes Lights Out. I think last night was an aberration, but he needs to get a save here to get it out of his head. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Is there like a delay on the field or something? Or is Gameday just being real slow.

it’s slow. 2 outs, and a 2-2 count on Kotsay. None on
