After a good series win over the St. Louis Cardinals, the Phils have the first place Arizona Diamonbacks to tangle with before the first half comes to a close. While Pat Burrell won’t be joining Chase Utley and Brad Lidge in the Bronx for the All-Star Game (a shame, but who cares, really?), we can all take solace in the fact his OBP dipped below .400 just twice this season (the second and third games of the year). And we can all congratulate Ryan Howard. His 27 HR and 83 RBI make him the best player not to make an All-Star team. Ever. Yeah, these All-Star Games are a sham.
Those offensive stars will face Doug Davis, who had his longest outing of the season last time out against the light-hitting Padres. Hopefully he’ll go the way of Braden Looper, who barely went six against the Phils yesterday. Kyle Kendrick is the other pitcher on the hill. He has gone six in four of his last five outings.
Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (8-3) 4.39 ERA
Diamondbacks: Doug Davis (3-4) 3.74 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 84, sunny
Lineup: Rollins/Werth/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Feliz/Victorino/Ruiz/Kendrick

Your gamenight beer: Today’s recommendation is one from the Isles. It’s Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery Pale Ale. It’s a decidedly British beer, very detailed and specific in its ingredients. A little bitter, but very fine and easy to take in. It goes well with some curry rice and chicken. Delicious.
Go Phillies!

First off thanks to Directv for shutting the HD game feed off at 10:30 and giving me a heart attack. It was up a minute later and I missed nothing, but still. Great job from the pen, especially the banged up Rudy Seanez. Any chance Orlando Hudson can get food poisoning that could keep him out the rest of the weekend (hint, hint local Philly cooks)? The guy is a freakin hoover, that double play he turned on the 7th I thought was going to cost the Phils the game.
Brian maybe you should be on the podcast every day until the Phils lose again, lol.

BTW Carrasco only pitched 2 innings because of the recent shoulder soreness he experienced and due to the fact he will be in the Futures Game next week. Just a precautionary measure from everything I can gather.

Great win tonight. I had plans to go to a bar and drink free beer(dock street), and I kept stalling because of the game, so I finally went in the bottom of the 10th(because the free beer was only from 10-12), and I got there and drank my free beer and watched the game because it was on there. It was a DJ night, and the whole bar started screaming louded than music. It was classic.
