Gamenight: Mets (42-44) At Phillies (48-39)

John Maine, 4-0 lifetime against the Phillies, will try to stop the good guys’ four-game winning streak tonight when the rivals clash at Citizens Bank Park. The Phils bring Jamie Moyer to the hill. In two starts against the Mets this season, Moyer is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA.
Last night the Phils got to Johan Santana, then pulled off the walk-off with a Shane Victorino single. JA Happ pitched well enough to get to the bullpen, which was dominant in keeping the Mets from doing anything at all. A total win. Pedro Feliz is a hidden hero from yesterday’s game, striking a two-out double and scoring on Vic’s single. He’s hitting .500 (6-for-12) in his last three games.
It’ll be hot at the park tonight (you know, I’ll be there), though the weather is luke warm and rain is expected.
Phillies: Jamie Moyer (7-6) 4.13 ERA
Mets: John Maine (8-6) 3.86 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 77, possible storms
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Ruiz/Moyer

Your gamenight beer: From Bourbon Brown to Black Bavarian. This black ale is satisfyingly nutty and filled with strong aromas, though it’s not necessarily heavy. It’s the perfect kind of beer to drink during a Moyer start — a little more aged, a little more complex, a little easy on the pallet. A good drink for your post-Fourth hangover. Have some grilled steak with it. Ya know, leftovers.
Go Phillies!

He has some no decisions against the Phillies. We faced him last season during our 8 in a row win streak against them last season.

Tim I got UFO last night. It was really good, but it reminded me more of a wine cooler than a beer. It’s a GREAT summer beer, but it’s toooooooooo refreshing and fruity and less beer like. The thing I like about Purple Haze is that it’s a wheat beer with a hint of raspberry flavor, unlike UFO which was a raspberry wine cooler with a hint of wheat beer. Catch my drift? I’m not knocking it, I know it seems that way, it’s really tasty, just not beer like enough. Know what I’m saying?

The one complaint I had about UFO, which i also had yesterday, was that it tasted too american. in otherwords, it wasnt strong enough despite it being a light beer. the balance wasnt quite there. still, quite tasty

Yeah, it was too crispy.
Fuck Ryan Howard’s D. Does he try to lose games for us with his D? Does he do that on purpose?

im totallyt serious about this: i really just cant deal with jenkins anymore. i just cant do it. like, get off our team. get out. please, someone, eh, like the pirates, please take this guy off out hands for like a TERRIBLE prospect. or just some cash considerations, like 1 dollar

This umpire is disgraceful, he called 2 non strikes to church. then calls a strike a ball to moyer.

i also cant deal with wheeler anymore. please. just let the sarge do the majority of the innings. he works well with tom mccarthy so let them both get innings 3-7 or let the sarge do 1-2 and 7-9. wheeler is just unbearable sometimes. the sarge knows more baseball too i think and can explain things to the audience better than wheeler.

if maine is injured too the mets are so done. maine is one of the 3 mets that i do not completely hate (santana, wright, maine) and without him the phillies gain an extra edge over an already struggling mets squad

it can’t be anything tooooo serious, cause hes still in the dugout watching the game. If it was serious he would leave for the clubhouse w/ the trainer

thats got to be tough on both parts:
1) having to come into the game and pitch against a hitter half way into an at bat and
2) having to bat against a completely new pitcher half way into an at bat

anyone notice harry misjudges balls a lot lately? every long fly ball is called like a homerun.
please dont put so taguchi out there to replace burrell even though bruntlett is running for him.
it will cost us if they allow so taguchi to field a fly ball or touch a bat or step on the field.

I know Gordon isn’t terrible. There are many worse relief pitchers in MLB.
But I can’t wait for the day his contract is up. I just can’t stand him anymore.

Gordon shouldn’t even have been in the game. The only reason Gordon was on the mound is cause Romero didn’t get the job done.

Buster onley says if the brewers dont part ways with there top 4 prospects the phillies are second in that chase for cc sabathia and it will cost the phillies carrasco, outman and some other lower level guy.

Buster Olney is saying that the Phils and Brewers are the leading candidates fro CC. Brewers have MLB ready talent. Phils have alot of talent in A ball.

Gordon sucks dick…that belt-high “fast”ball to Schneider was a joke.. I’m pretty sure I could’ve hit that too.
I don’t think its worth your top pitching prospects for the 2-month rental that is CC Sabathia… the Indians said before they didn’t want to give anyone a 72-hour window or anything to get a deal done, and I really don’t see the Phillies outbidding, say the Yankees, who are in need of Starting pitching next year

Looking the brewers it would most likely be a rent a player situation and being a small market team i think they might heistate and that would let the phillies in. The top to guys of the brewcrew are good and they tribe want them but they only want to give up 1.
