Gamenight: Mets (44-44) At Phillies (48-41)

Tonight is a pretty important game in that the Phillies don’t want to lose three of four to the Mets. At home. With the All-Star break on the dashboard.
So they’ll send Big Game Eaton to the hill. Mr. Eaton is coming off an effective win over Atlanta and is facing a team he has good numbers against (5-0, 3.29 ERA). Meanwhile, Pedro Martinez is having a bad year for the Mets. He’s notching a Myersian 7.39 ERA. Of course, against this offense he could look more like Lincecum. But we’ll see.
Jimmy Rollins, who makes a killing from the Mets misfortunes, has only two hits in this series so far. And Pat Burrell is currently third in the NL Final Vote, behind Corey Hart and David Wright. VOTE BURRELL.
Phillies: Adam Eaton (3-6) 4.79 ERA
Mets: Pedro Martinez (2-2) 7.39 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 82, possible storms
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Dobbs/Werth/Coste/Eaton

Your gamenight beer: As my face peels and I get set for a night at the bars, I’ll crack open this highly potent offering, Merry Monks’ Ale. From the Weyerbacher Brewery in Easton, this ale is deceptive. With its many spices it tastes like a winter warmer, but it’s actually a spring/summer beer. And it’s incredibly high in alcohol content (almost 10 percent). Yeah, this’ll get you ripped. And you might need it tonight.
Go Phillies!

I’m totally not expecting a comeback, but I give them credit for not making this the most embarrassing loss. They fought hard to get in the game!

Do you guys agree that managing a major league baseball team takes less skill than managing a fantasy baseball team?

well my prediction from an earlier post was phillies lose by 3, but i thought it would be somewhere around 6-3, not this horseshit of a game

damnit. jayson, get a base hit. a homerun is not necessary to tie the game. just get it in there.

I think The Phillies are going to be out of first place by the All-Star break. Last season was a gift (thanks, Mets) and this season is a tease. We are just not that good. Maybe next year?
