The Phillies continue their three-gamer in Washington, D.C. with a match against Tim Redding and the Nats.
Seeing Redd: Tim Redding is the No. 1 Phillie Killer, the B.A. Baracus of the team of guys who openly throttle us on a regular basis. He has pitched 13.1 shutout innings against the Phils this season, giving up eight hits while walking five. If the Phils decide to take pitches …
Iron Ryan: Ryan Howard has a consecutive game streak of 221 games, longest in baseball.
Flawless Final: After last night’s win, the Phillies are 46-0 when leading after eight innings.
Phillies: Jamie Moyer (9-6) 3.76 ERA
Nationals: Tim Redding (7-5) 3.98 ERA
Gametime: 7:10 p.m. EST
Weather: 88, cloudy
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Bruntlett/Ruiz/Moyer

Your gamenight beer: Affligem Blond is a Belgian beer, really my favorite nation for beer. It’s yellow/gold, very light and has somewhat of a banana lace smell. Can’t beat that combination. When facing a guy who has baffled you all season, you need to rethink strategy, take your time, focus on every little pitch. That makes Affligem Blond a nice beer for tonight. For a food pairing, I’d go with clams.
Go Phillies!

Yea, great piece of hitting there. They need to make this at least 5-3 at this point. Those 2 baserunners, at least, need to make their way home. This coupled with the Mets getting beat up made for a good ten minutes or so.

J-Roll with a 2b… Geoff should they tell him now or during his next at-bat?

well, if that’s the case, Don, the Phils better start picking it up – especially against the Mets and Marlins, you we’re a combined 8-14 against this year.

that double by J-Roll doesn’t count – Geoff traded him last at-bat. Runners back to their respective bases…

Wow they are carrying tonight. It didn’t seem like T-Mac or Milledge thought that was getting out and it just kept going. Great hitting by the Phils, didn’t see this coming at all.

HAHA!!! That was probably your funniest post ever, Geoff. You should just stop now while you’re ahead.
Well so much for the phillie killer Tim Redding. Way to go Utley! I guess that cortisone shot is working wonders???

nothing like playing the nationals to break a slump.
a sweep here would be nice…get some momentum and make a run. the phils are certainly capable of stringing a bunch of wins together

Jeff you’re right. They could put quite a string together in the next few weeks. They face: @STL (3); home against FLA (3) & PIT (3), on the road against LAD (4) & SD (3) before they’re back home against these pesky Nats (3), LAD (4) & Muts (2).

I think Jenkins is one of those guys that needs 20-25 ABs a week to be a consistent hitter. He is obviously not suited for a platoon. Have Werth’s numbers versus righties really been that bad?

Just when you thought Manny was a complete arrogant dick, he makes a comment like that. Lovely. I guess he may be moved yet, although Hermida and Willingham are still in the game. BTW, everything is “fine” with Cole Hamels’ elbow according to the announcers.

by “fine” they mean pat gillick actually has to get up on his ass and is panicking right now trying to get roy halladay. but then, the owners walk into his office and say, whooooooooa, you WILL give up carlos carrasco for paul byrd. and thats what hell do.

We end the regular season going to Atlanta (3) and Florida (3), and then head home against Atlanta (3) and Nationals (3). Out of 12 games, I’d like to think we can take 9 or 10 of them.

Stupid mlb.tv! I don’t get the CSN feed dammit! I do somewhat agree with what he said about Pedro and Nomar though. The Sox seem to tarnish a player’s image when they no longer want them. It seems like they do it to turn the fans against the player so there isn’t public outcry when they get rid of them.

we have a lot of games vs the nl west the rest of the year and the nl west is not very good. considering one team is over 500…and that’s by 2 games i think in arizona. phils have the schedule to have a great run to end the year. we gotta beat the marlins though

well, his spot was due and he’d already thrown 83 pitches. I guess they want him to go one more.

that was a quick and efficient inning for Moyer. He may be able to go one more, but the heat and humidity will be the deciding factor.

WTF? Why pull Burrell in the double switch? Why not Jenkins? Doesn’t make sense! Burrell just had an assist last inning.

God, these are the only kind of games Ryan Madson should be allowed to pitch in – ones where we have big leads. The guy is WAAAAYYYY overrated. He seems to give up runs when we need him to just hold on.

“When they bunt the seventh place hitter [in the 8th inning] it tells you they are going to pinch hit for the pitcher.”
