After losing Sabathia and needing to figure out another deal, now it appears we need to make even another deal for a set up man. We absolutely need a back up plan for Tom Gordon. What are his chances of coming back healthy for the rest of the season?

I agree with you Tim in questioning the late move to put Gordon on the DL. Gordon was hurting and in turn hurt the team with his outing against the Mets.

Swindle is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 14.2 innings with Lehigh Valley. With AA Reading he went 1-0 with an 0.54 ERA in 16.2 innings. From what I read about him, heâ€™s a slow-tossing three-quarter lefty with a very slow curveball and a fastball thatâ€™s almost as slow. Another Jamie Moyer as a reliever? ;-)

Gavin’s on the money, Gordon deserves a lot of respect for going out there full well knowing the minute he gives up the first walk or most of us roll our eyes and say this guys done when he hasn’t had the chance to himself completely healthy.

Marte’s probably not going anywhere as the Pirates have said they want value in return at least compable to what they’d get for him as a type a free agent. As for Fuentes the Rockies are out of it and the only thing that will keep him a Rocky is if the market gets driven up above what teams are prepared to surrender because of the amount of interest there is in him.

The Rockies have surged a bit and fuentes might not be available anymore depending on their performance.

Also, they phillies ALWAYS screw up injury-related things. THey have th eworst trainers of all time.

I dont think anyone is surprised by this one.

Let me say this….and alot of people will bash these comments…….. but we as Phillies fans always say that a guy endears himself with us by being tough, and hard nosed, and gutty, and gutsy, etc. As much as Flash has driven us crazy it is because he is pitching with a torn rotator cuff. he has pitched with multiple arm issues and he continues to take the ball when asked. Is it smart? No. But is it tough? Yes. I think Flash deserves more respect than we give him. Its guys like Travis Lee, Jose Mesa, and the like that deserve the boos.

I cant see the Phils getting Fuentes….although I’d like that.

This move paves the way for the trade the Phils have really been wanting to make, the interest in Fuentes is really going to heat up as the Phils try and make a deal before anyone else can.

Will be nice to see what Swindle has here although a live arm is going to be needed before we see Durbin and Madson start to get lit up if the offense continues to chug.
