The thing that worries me is you look at a team like the Red Sox or the Angels and their built to win, even the Cubs are taking on that persona. The Phils (and Mets)… Were built to loose, wallow in the drama and find every excuse possible to justify why the team is not performing consistently over the course.

Even our favourite Nancy Drew is putting together a good year being one of those guys stepping up to fill a hole in the Sox Line-up.

I don’t think we have a better record, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a better winning percentage. The season starts tomorrow, and luckily for the Phils and Mets the Marlins are playing a 4 game series against the Cubs at Wrigley. They will be lucky to not get swept. The division race starts tomorrow night between the Mets and Phils. The Phillies need to go to Shea fired up or this season is over for them.

Rollins is huge BUT I dont’ think as huge as Reyes is to the Mets. I wish the Mets weren’t as dependent on him as they are now. Phil they do have a better record this year without Rollins in the lineup. But he nearly carried them on his shoulders last year like the beast that he was.

The Mets have quite a few questions after this season (MUCH more than the Phillies do) with LF and 1B. Delgado has been a Ryan Howard Jr. with a shitty batting average and not nearly as good power and RBI #’s. I think the Mets can turn it around but hey this is why we play all 162 games. We’ll all find out in 2 1/2 months who is going to outlast. I’ll tell you one thing, I’d be pretty upset and disappointed in both the Mets and Phillies if the Marlins somehow win this division. We would deserve to go play AA ball.

I can agree that Reyes is a little overrated and that he is one of the MAIN reasons that the Mets collapsed last year. I’ll say it again, I call it how I see it because i’m a huge baseball fan, not only a Mets fan.

Put simply if the Mets have a front office overhaul and install some kind of cohesive system and the Phils start playing baseball not spaceball then we have the two best teams in the NL.

Fortunately for us the Mets are in more of a mess than we are otherwise we would be in big trouble.

Don M you are absolutely correct. What we have with the Mets and Phillies is 2 seriously under achieving teams. Minaya is a moron and signs losers like Castillo and Alou. Thank god Alou and Delgado should be gone after this year. That’s why the payroll is high.

Ok in short we lost because this team is playing clearly with a lack of prepartion, passion and situationally thats killing us because we cannot convert run score opportunities in anything other than inconsistent dribbles…

Doesn’t change the fact that Reyes is overrated, if you want to get angry at us for calling David Wright overrated then you might have a pretty valid point but Reyes IS overrated, his stats show it and his attitude oozes it.

Reyes is great but it’s terrible when he does bad so do the Mets. They rely on him way too much. I just watched a Met game like last week and they had a stat that when reyes scores in the first inning in the last 2 years the Mets are 76-25 but when he doesn’t they are only a little better than .500. That’s an opening stat in my opinion. That clearly shows how terrible they would be without him. Oh yea and Phil, I’ll trade you Moises Alou for Victorino. HAHA

Exactly NJ. Utley is a prime example. Utley doesn’t have the talent Reyes has but he has the work ethic. If Reyes played with Utley’s work ethic he’d be one of the best players in the game. I’m not saying Utley doesn’t have talent, he is one of the best hittersi n the game and has one of the best swings in the game, but his defense used to be atrocious. Now he is one of the best defensive 2B along with best hitters.
