Update: Happ Being Re-Called To Philly

11:14 p.m.: Nick Fierro of the Express-Times of Easton reports Happ will be called up to the Phillies.

8:11 p.m.: It’s becoming increasingly probable that Happ is coming up to the Phils, but no word on who is coming down to AAA Lehigh Valley.

More on the Phillies’ win later, but first, some news coming out of Allentown:
Rumors swirling. Happ was removed in the 3rd inning, and according to 1 report, was being congratulated in the dugout, or at least it didn’t appear he was injured. If he was being recalled by the big league team, it seems odd to remove him mid inning. The more likely scenario is a trade in the works. Stay tuned.
Phuture Phillies with the report. No news yet on Happ or if he’s being traded (or called up). We’ll let you know as soon as something happens.

If the Phils had the intention of putting him back in the rotation, why would they have started him at all? I like Happ but it seems strange to pull him mid-game if they were just promoting him to the ML club. With Meyers starting on Tuesday, whose spot would he fill?

I hope to see Happ again! Not exactly falling all over myself when it comes to Blanton or the “new and not so much improved” Myers. If you ask me, Myers is on his way out of town, and it isn’t to go to RFK. His start date is on Tuesday so we shall see what is brewing.

In a perfect world, 1 of 2 things happen…
1. Happ is recalled and takes Myers’ rotation spot, who is slotted into middle relief and Adam Eaton is released.
2. Happ is traded to Colorado for Matt Holliday and Brian Fuentes.
However, in the real world, Happ (and likely Marson and Carrasco) are traded to the Mariners for Raul Ibanez and Arthur Rhodes.

Happ plus others go to Boston for Ramirez possibly? There are rumors about Manny possibly coming to Philly but that’s pretty far-fetched.

.A. Happ initially started the game for Lehigh Valley and did not allow a run in two and two-thirds innings before being lifted for Green who will leave the team tomorrow to join the Canadian Olympic Team.
To me this means they just wanted Green to pitch early in the game since he is going to the Olympic Team tomorrow and limit Happs work load…. Of course putting him in the middle of the inning is kinda strange…

The Manny deal is doubtful and I don’t want it anyway. Could you imagine if Manny and Pat were your corner outfielders? Unless the NL gets the DH going it doesn’t make much sense. But this from earlier today from Jayson Stark:

I think he’s just getting called up to be honest. Seanez to the DL, Myers to the pen, and of course we have to allow Eaton to blow games for us because ownership is too proud to eat his salary.
Maybe if every phillies fan threw in a couple of bucks, we could buy Eaton out….

We will not be getting ramirez, holliday, or anyone of their ilk. Gillick has NO nutsack. Arthur Rhodes is a distinct possibility though.

Myers to the pen and Happ to the rotation seems like the best scenario in my opinion. Let Myers get his kahonas back in middle or late relief. No sense in giving up the farm for a reliever or a starter that won’t be around long. Give Happ a chance, I say.

Well, I don’t know if Sherrill/Huff makes a heck of a lot of sense, although if Huff goes to 3B it may. There’s no room in the outfield unless they throw in an OF in the trade, which would then skew it a bit. Trading Happ for those two would help, though. Huff is only singed through the end of the year ($8MM), as is Sherill ($1MM). I still like the Phils better with Happ in our rotation and Myers in the pen.
