Matt Holliday already proved he can pound good pitching, noone in the Phillies line up proved they could. My trade proposition was for Cook and Holliday. Cook is a front line starter and a ground ball pitcher.

the fact is the phils need to eat some salary of Myers and eaton and get them out. Happ needs to be in the show.

I agreed with TJ and Craig. Mortgaging the farm for a No.1 frontline pitcher is one thing but to aquire a hitter for a team that is among the league leaders in offense? Where is the sense of priority for the obvious need… pitching? The baseball axiom …”PITCHING wins championships”… does apply for the playoffs, especially in the short “best of” series vs. Cubs or Brewers with their newly aquired “aces” in rotation.

…..and then we’d have no farm left. For what? a 30 something reliever and a stud outfielder who will be looking for a minimum of $20m a year in 18 months time.

Not worth giving up the entire farm for that. Just my opinion.

If you can get Cook and Holliday for Vic, Happ, Donald, Carrasco, Bastrado, and 2 lesser prospects I’d also pull the trigger.

haha it’s been all over this board for a couple of days now. I really want them to get Holliday. They should try and pry Cook away. I’d give up Marson and Carrasco if we were getting Cook and Holliday in return. Cook would be a great pitcher in this ballpark. Think of this line up/rotation

Gavin, that’s old news. I’d say they should still try and work out a deal for Holliday, but not Fuentes.

Holliday and Fuentes?
Foxsports.com reported that the Phillies and Rockies were working on a multiplayer deal that would have netted the Phils outfielder Matt Holliday and lefthanded reliever Brian Fuentes.
The deal, which reportedly would have cost the Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino, catcher Lou Marson and pitchers Carlos Carrasco and J.A. Happ, could not be finalized, according to the report.

A deal for Fuentes is still possible. The Rockies have scouted Carrasco and Marson at double A in recent days. A major-league scout said yesterday that there is much competition to land Fuentes.

It’s a shame that Kendrick was pounded, but thankfully, the Mets were pounded too. Go Hamels. We really need this one before the 3 game Mets series.
