Catcher Lou Marson and shortstop Jason Donald were selected onto the roster for the U.S. Olympic team, which will compete starting Aug. 13 in the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Marson is hitting .321 with 4 HR and 45 RBI for AA Reading this season. Donald is hitting .301 with 12 HR and 47 RBI. Both participated in the MLB Futures Game, a pseudo tryout for the U.S. Olympic team.

Good news for those two, who definitely have played their way onto this honor. Donald remains a big trading chip for the Phils, while the Phils don’t want to give away Marson. I agree. The kid will be special. Of course, Donald shouldn’t be that bad either in the show.

what if donald gets some PT in september and shows hes a stud, does that make it easier to dangle rollins out there?

I think Donald will be a stud.

    J-Roll isn’t going anywhere

The only way I’d let J-Roll go is if it was for Roy Halladay straight up. They need a SS we need a pitcher. I wouldn’t do that until the off season though.

J-Roll is not a HOFer…he is my favorite player and has been for like 6 years now, but he is not a HOFer.

I think Donald might end up going to 3B in 2010.. isn’t that when Feliz is up?

From what I’ve heard, it doesn’t seem that Donald is good enough defensivley to play SS at the ML level. Maybe 3B, 2B or in the outfield.

Does Donald have the power to play 3B or corner outfield?
