PETA named Citizens Bank Park its top vegetarian-friendly ballpark of 2008 (thanks, Sports Complex).
If I remember correctly, the Bank was No.1 last year, as well. And last year it won a Food Network award for Best Ballpark Eats.
So take a moment from all this trade talk and appreciate that Citizens Bank Park is an awesome dining experience.

ehh the food aint that great there… I guess in terms of ballpark food its pretty good, but it amazes me the number of fat slobs that go to games and just stand in Ashburn Alley eating the entire game… and they rather save their ice-cream helmet then catch a Home Run Ball..
EAT MEAT!!

Well I did have an awesome dining experience there Sunday (it was a suite, but still …). I don’t know – everytime I go there I enjoy whatever food I buy.

you mean that aramark ffood thats the SAME shit you find at applebees and tgi fridays and bennigans and all that other garbage? sure.
and if the phillies are so GREEN, then explain this to me: you know those “go green” bins they have at CBP now? they have differnet slots to put the garbage in. well, why is it that when you look into the bin there are no dividers? and that, in actuality, its all going into one big metal tub?
so in reality theyre “fake” green, if you care about such things. not that i do, i think its pretty much a scheme to market new products to people because they actually ignore legitiamte environmental issues such as deforestation and chemical/nuclear waste dumping to promote green dishwasher soap and “fake” organic products that arent actually organic because theyre made the same way taht everything else is made. hahahaha. jokers.
they do have good hot dogs, but dont even try to pretend, for one second that their good for you.
i suppose that those soft pretzels are one of the safer things to eat there, and those are quality.

The majority of live Phillies games I see are at Shea. When I get the chance to go to the Bank, I get there when the gates open for the food. I’m not saying that I would go there for the food if there was no game, but in terms of ballpark eats, it is pretty good.

Geoff that was intense. The Schmitter is delicious though, it would be better if they served Shmidts beer though

I’m not talking the Aramark stuff (the hot dogs aren’t good).
The vendor food outside of Aramark (steaks, fries, burgers, Bull’s) is all good. Obvsiouly there’s a plethora of vegetarian options, so yeah. Maybe I should’ve written “when compared to other parks” after “experience.”

Recycled material doesn’t have to be seperated. Hence, the “no dividers” inside the bin.
Maybe you should watch the news, get with the times or start recycling smartly to inform yourself with these essential facts.

the Schmitter should be called “The Shitter” because if you eat one from the ballpark you will without a doubt wake up at 3am and spend at least 1/2 hour in the bathroom..
The pretzels there blow.. how awesome would it be if you could buy fresh soft pretzels in the game.. everything else is pretty good though the hot dogs and hamburgers are fine…the fries are always cold..etc.
nothing to write home about there.. the freakin lines in ashburn alley are usually so long that i just avoid it and grab something quick at one of the regular things

I do recycle, but if its dividing the slots up for bottles, cans, and paper-based trash and you look to see that its all going into the same compartment, then its not really recycling then is it, there chief?
Also, if i wanted to “get informed” the very LAST place i would turn to is the TV news. i would read books and actually study real things. you want to know what the governement is doing? read the laws that they pass, because they wont talk about that on the news.
the only thing they talk about on the news is some distraction (britney spears, etc) and some divisive issue to get poeple to hate each other (election) and something to get us to hate other countries (war). thats really all youll see on TV news. none of it is informative and most of it isnt even truthful. compelte garabge.
go read, thats where real information comes from, not the television.

as a vegetarian, there are some decent options at the cbp, but i hate having to wait in the hour-long line at ricks for an $8 vege-cheesesteak or any of the other specialty items in the ashburn alley area. i prefer to just eat the pretzels or nachos that you could get an any park, that are located in the areas with no line.

My wife is vegetarian. Speaking for her, she really appreciates the veggie dogs on dollar dog day.
If nothing else, CBP is the best stadium I’ve been to in terms of having a good day at the park. Good food, good draft beers if you look around, not a bad seat in the house, and if you want to stand, you can get a $75 view for $12. It almost makes you think they designed it that way because the team is usually terrible.

The food is good, but too expensive. I didn’t think the suite food was that good, but it was free.

The food at the bank is good. We always go early to watch BP and sit a Harry the K’s and eat a cheesesteak.
It used to be great when you could get 24oz drafts there for $6.25, but it seems like they’ve scaled them back to 20 oz now. 1.66 beers for $6.25 now instead of 2 beers. Still not a bad deal for a ballpark and they’re usually really cold.
As for veggie food. I have no idea. I would touch it if it was free.

Anyone else here ever take a family of four to the ballpark? Seats, parking, food and drinks will set you back close to $150 or more. Seems to me CBP is more suited to the younger singles crowd.
The Thressers at Brighthouse Field offer a $25 package including dogs, popcorn, drinks (no beer), seats and programs for a family of four. But that’s A ball and a 1,000 miles away. Although it is an enjoyable evening out watching the baby Phils.
Do the Phils offer anything like that at CBP?

Has anyone ever tried the RAT at Shea? Rats are all over the place there.. not sure how the rest of the food is there
On a side note… Bull BBQ is pretty good, but its nothing compared to BOOGs down in Camden Yards.. that place has AWESOME food

..I love walking around and getting a $75 view anywhere you go.can you think of any other stadium like it?

Fred, what major league park can you take a family of four for cheaper?
Granted it’s just me and my wife but we get two general admission tickets ($24), park on the street on Patison down by 7th (free), and cap ourselves at two beers each ($24). We rarely eat at the park but the food prices aren’t really much more expensive than if you went out to eat for fast food anywhere in the city.
We actually spent more money when we went to see the Iron Pigs.

Richie Allen: As far as any other stadium like it, Camden Yards in Baltimore was the prototype of new stadiums. Although I like the overall feeling at CBP more, most of the new stadiums owe a bit of gratitude to HOK (the architect at CY) for their designing of the new model stadium at CY.
That said, not a single thing was overlooked in the design of CBP. It is a near perfectly-designed stadium.

Fred – Seriously if you think CBP is expensive, you couldn’t even get 4 tickets for a Red Sox game at Fenway for $150. It has to have the most ridiculously expensive tickets and concensions (not to mention the beer is flat and warm most of the time) in MLB.
CBP is pretty reasonable for MLB parks.
Just don’t let the kids eat so much cotton candy! ;-)

I have no complaints about the food at CBP. The cheesesteaks are amazing at Tony Luke’s and Bulls BBQ has great baked beans and pulled pork. Also, there’s hardly ever a line at Bulls. I must say, it’s second only to the food at Camden Yards out of the parks I’ve been to (Fenway, Camden Yards, CBP, Shea, US Cellular, Chase Field).

I think it was Mike T who first raised the issue of expense for food at a M.L. ballpark. With exorbitant prices at concession stands (how much is a hot dog there compare to a fast food restaurant?), most families of say…four would probably lose a day’s salary earned at a workplace (chuckling). I’m sure that Tim’s “dining” experience there was enjoyable in his disregard of cost. He probably can afford it and as Fred posted..”Seems to me CBP is more suited to the younger singles crowd”… or in short the Yuppies. (smiling) Oh to be sure, with thirty plus sellouts at CBP, the Phillies organization (+owners) are quite contend with concessionary profits.

AND YOU DONT QUESTION WHY THEY WONT GO ADD PAYROLL WITH ALL THAT MONEY THEYRE RAKING IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concessions have very little impact on the team’s payroll. In fact, the majority of the team’s money doesn’t come from ticket sales either- it’s television contracts. Which of course answers why the Yankees have so much money. I believe the Phillies contract with Comcast is up after this season. We’ll see where that takes us.

Dude, concessions are market up hundreds of percentages, they rake off concessions and team gear thats made by 13 year old children in malaysia for 1 cent a day. Theyre printing money down there as if theyre a bank. The best solution: Ed Snider/Comcast buys the team and opens up the war chest for the payroll.

I think the prices in general are just crazy… I often just go with the guys instead of taking the fiance for the simple fact that taking her means paying $50 for tickets, $10+ for parking, a couple beers, hot dogs, pretzels or whatever and you’re talking another $50..
I’d love to take her to Flyers games too, but at $50 a piece for the upper levels.. and all the parking and concessions… its a $200 date… we just bought a house and a high-def TV and whatnot, so most of my sports watching is going on from my couch this year.. with a hand down my pants…

At some point the govt. is going to have to step-in to limit these salaries… A-rod makes more per pitch then I do in a year probably.
My uncle (the one with the season tix for the Sillies) once said to me that no professional athlete should be allowed to make more than $1 million per year. And each player on the team that wins gets an extra $1 million. … he might have something there…

I honestly can’t wait for CitiField to open next season. It is being paraded as potentially the “Greenest” park in the majors.I know this is a tag based on food, but I honestly hope the Amazins have Rusty Staub in mind because he has the tastiest ribs I ever had in NY. Now on the vagiterian front….Its never gonna happen but it’d sound funny having vendors yell “Tofu Heeeeeeere!Get your tofu here”.Plus make my steak medium rare.
