Geoff, you say you’re tired of saying it, and quite frankly (although I agree with you sometimes), I am tired of hearing you say it too.

interstingly enough, the mets are doing the same as the phillies are doing: trying to get good players/pitchers while still holding onto their “top prospects”

guess what? you want good talent? youre not getting it without giving up top prospects. you want raul ibanez minaya? john niese or fernando martinez are in the deal. you want holliday or halladay gillick? carlos carrasco has to be involved

exactly. people dont understand that. you need veterans, but by veterans i dont mean old overpaid junk. it festers and attracts other old overpaid junk and eats money and space on the roster. before you know it, the team finishes in last place and you have to rebuilld. you can never have more than one or two of those guys on your whole team at a given time. the phillies have like 10, the mets have like 15.

they probably will come out on top. the phillies and mets are old. too much old, overpaid JUNK on those two rosters, especially the mets bullpen. the marlins have energy. lack of experience? they had the same team in 2003 and those guys proved to be just fine.

manny to the fish improves the fish a little but not significantly. if the phillies dont make som esplash, a really big one, out of nowehere, then they have no better a chance to win the division than the mets or marlins, just like before the whole manny thing. i agree with that completely.

that didn’t hurt, now did it mike? i agree, the division is very even up, but i think as of right now the marlins have the edge in pitching over the phils. just my opinion. i actually think if no moves are made amongst the phils, mets, and marlins, that florida will come out on top. call me crazy.

Did I say the Phils have pitching to contend? No. I’ve been saying it all year, the Philliess need another 1 or 2 starters to be serious contenders. Now, the NL East is rather even. When you put the Phillies against the Marlins and Mets, it’s a pretty close race. If someone in this division acquires another big time starter, that’s where the advantage is. The Mets decent pitching, but lack offense. The Marlins and Phils have shit pitching, but can hit — division, still even. So we go back to your statement, “Manny to the Fish KILLS the Phils.” Manny to the fish does not kill the phillies. They need pitching to improve. We need pitching to improve. Nothing changes. Ok?

But they already failed, hes not coming. You had to get bay but hes gone too. now you need to revisit the hollday talks IF the rocks are selling. offer them carlos carrasco, antonio bastardo, jason donald,- and greg golson for matt holliday alone.

I think this should force Gillicks hand to land Manny. He’s the type of guy that will be out to prove to BOS that he is better w/o them. He’s going to kill baseballs down the stretch if he gets traded to the Fish.

Originally I dont like getting Manny, but if he goes to Mets or Marlins, I think you have to take a serious look at trying to steal him away.

im more upset that grabow and bay went to the red sox because i left the phillies could have had one of those guys. again, gillick does nothing. im getting tired of repeating that. he has 6 hours to make three moves. starter, reliever, everyday RF. im waiting….

the marlins don’t have the pitching to contend, but somehow the Phillies do? aside from hamels, who is not invincible either, i’d take anyone on the marlins staff over the phillies. nolasco, olsen, johnson, and the returning anibal sanchez. you’d rather joe blanton, or kyle kendrick. puh-lease.

Manny on the Marlins does not “kill the Phils” by any means, whatsoever. The Marlins don’t have the pitching to contend. They already hit so many homeruns all over the place – adding Manny will not make their pitching better. Dont worry about it.
