“It doesn’t look like Manny Ramirez will be wearing red pinstripes anytime soon.

According to a report by Jack Curry today in the New York Times Bats blog, Philadelphia Phillies general manager Pat Gillick has no interest in exploring a trade for the outspoken Sox slugger:

â€œAt this point, thereâ€™s no interest [in Manny] on our part,â€ said Gillick, in a telephone interview. â€œWe have no place to play the guy. …
â€œBurrell has to play left field and I donâ€™t think Ramirez has played right field in seven or eight years,â€ Gillick said.

The Mets and the Phillies are not interested in acquiring Ramirez, and the Red Sox do not want to trade him to an American League team because they do not want Ramirez to end up hurting them this season. It seems more and more probable that Ramirez will remain with the Red Sox for the rest of the season. “

Gillick has a proven track record… he’s won everyplace he’s gone… in his two years here, he improved the team both years… and for some reason that = GILLICK SUCKS by a couple guys on here

george sherrill is signed cheaply for this year. if you dont want to resign him, then let him walk and collect the draft picks as he MAY quality for type A this year

Myers signed an extension before last season for 3 years and $25.75 or $8.5 average over the contract.

last year, he was worth WAY MORE than 8.5M… this year, WAY LESS….and he’s still on the hook next year, or they trade him.

Utley signed then for $85 M over 7 years… which is a steal if you ask me

George Sherrill is going to be the NEXT example of a guy that had a decent year, signed somewhere… and then gets paid $8-Million by some team and 2 years later their fans are RIPPING the GM because the guy has a 5 ERA..

I do think theyll get something for myers but itll be in the offseason. i dont see them moving him before the deadline. i ijust hope he can be a middle reliever in the stretch run here this year until they can move him for prospects in the offseason. re DEFINITELY have to trade for a legit late inning setupman, maybe even a closer from a bad team that on thsi team is a setupman. liek george sherrill…
