in all reality, it doesn’t bother me that Myers fastball is at 88 MPH. It’s frustrating that it was at 93-94 last year, but there is no reason he can’t be successful at 88MPH. The problem is that he can’t locate it. He just rears back and throws it over the heart of the plate. That’s his problem. Myers needs to accept the fact that his fastball is going to top out at 90, and start locating the thing.

harang isnt an option this season and niether is bedard

burnett should be on the B list with all of his issues and should be priced as such

but, some b list guy would prob be more effective than myers if his velocity is still 88 which I KNOW it was for the first of his minor league starts

Honestly, if myers still isnt fixed, then joe blanton is better than him. yes ive looked at blantons numbers. ill have to try and verify if they turned the guns off for myers starts, but i wouldnt be surprised. more eevidence, don m, that myers is not fixed.

Why are we bringing him back? We’re bringing him back because of everything you just wrote above that sentence. We have no other choices. Carrasco isn’t ready, Eaton is terrible, and it’s becoming clear that there isn’t enough talent out there for us to trade for without giving up our cream of a very weak crop.
Phil, any idea why the Phils haven’t moved Cardenas to 3rd yet? I mean it’s clear his path is blocked to the big leagues at 2b, but Feliz is only signed for 2009, with a club option in 2010, (which could obviously be declined) Why hasn’t this happened yet?

this is typical phillies. they really shat a big log in the bed on this one. the cubs got rich harden for one plus prospect and some change, and even if he gets hurt he doesnt make that much money. Instead we’re stuck choosing between 3 plus guys who are all hurt (Burnett, Bedard, Harang) and a big list of shitty guys (Arroyo, Maddux, et al). So their solution is to bring myers back and claim that in his 3 starts in lehgh valley, he got fixed? I read that they turned the radar guns off for large portions of his starts up there, so i think his velocity is still where it was all season. myers has proved himself this season to be TERRIBLE. why are they bringing him back!?!

There really is no value left on the trade market anymore. The Phils can really only hope to get Myers back as a stud #2 and possibly trade for a B list starter such as Blanton or Maddux. Anyone else they’ll have to give up Lou or Carrasco which aint happening.

Agreed. Especially when the return is not an Elite Pitcher (Burnett). If that could have been possible to get an absolute stud pitcher then I would say go for it.. But not for a third option in free agency.

Yeah that might be selling low on Cardenas. good point. you cant trade your top two prospects away like that when its been ages since theyve had desireable prospects. i doubt theyll do that though, those guys are safe.

Giving up Marson or Carrasco for anybody is really dumb. I actually think they shouldn’t trade Cardenas yet. Let him develop himself into being a top 10 prospect before you pull the trigger on him.
