I agree TJ. Buster Olney wrote that Bedard has shown himself to not be an ace this year. But remember, Buster Olney is retarded and sounds like my sister.

Give me Bedard no matter the cost (not literally), but he is signed through next year and we could trade him in his contract year if need be and chances are that his stock only goes up from here on.

In 14 games, he has thrown over 90 pitches 10 times. (71%)

Plus he has a 3.79 ERA!

And he had 221 Ks last year!

And he’s about to enter his prime at 29.

I really want to get Bedard- what’s with this stuff about him not ever wanting to go 100 pitches? Anyone have a link about that?

Lots of guys act like D-bags on losing teams. It’s the way it goes.

I agree with Phil, but I would also trade Werth and a top prospect if that’s what it takes.

Can you imagine playing the Cardinals in round 1 in October with Hamels going in game 1 and Bedard going in game 2?

I still believe in cultivating your own people. they want too much for a douchebag pitcher whos playing injured and cant get past 100 pitches then tell them to go climb a tree. dont let them off the hook for their mistake.

noone is going to get carlos silva and let them off the hook for that. some team will get bedard but i dont think it should be us. We need a right-hander anyway.

Top Hitters: Cards, Golson, Marson, Donald
Pitchers: Carrasco, Bastardo, Happ, Savery

its going to take at least 3 of those guys to get you a top-tier starting pitcher.

A LOT of this depends on their plans for Burrell, if you are going to let him walk, you need to keep Golson.. if they don’t want to sign Howard long-term (which I dont think they should) they need to keep Cardanas…

Bastardo was a quick-riser this year, maybe teams will be high on him ??

If you offer “Jason Donald and another lesser prospect” … you don’t get him, and you don’t make your team any stronger.

Savery looks to be a long way away from the Majors.. Golson K’s as much as Howard… Carrasco is really doing anything overly exciting either.. There is no guarantee that any of them will succeed at the highest level, but you already know how good Bedard can be.

It all depends on how well we can evaluate our own talent.. Myers and Madson, and whoever else haven’t worked out so great. Hamels is the first home-grown all-star pitcher in like 15 years

Yeah. but Savery, Marson, Golson, and Carrasco shouldnt be sold off in order to do that. If youre a legitimate GM, you have to put your foot down at some point and say, no, hands off these prospects. if we dont get a starter because of that, then oh well, they should have done a better job making kyle lohse stay here and thats their responsibility. but dont urinate away your future to cover for their own past failures.

i dont even think bedard is worth that. his value is at an all time low. so you say, ok well give you jason donald and another lesser propect and you tell them to F off if they ask for more than that.

Donald is an all-star at the AA level, and I think he’s probably about ready to play everyday.

But with Rollins here for another few years, it makes sense to trade him.

I don’t think Burnett is that good, but if he doesn’t cost you much, he would obviously be a big help to this team… The key is to leave that window open as long as you can, and try to bring home that championship

Yea but if his stuff has been shaky at AA.. that means he’d be getting “Kim Myers-ed” aka Knocked-around… at the big league level

I would gladly take Bedard on my team.. for Carrasco… but I think Golson, Marson, and Cardanas have a chance to be really good in the not too distant future..

Yeah Marson damn well is the catcher of the future, like next year. i dont want to lose carrasco either. i think hes sure thing to make yout rotation next year and be decent. i know hes been shady recently but his stuff is too good.

Good news on both fronts. Marson should be the lone “untouchable” in the minors as far as I’m concerned, and I’d be loathe to lose Victorino, who’s an integral part of this team.

I’ll repeat myself though: I’d much rather trade for Bedard than a rental, even one as good as Sabathia.
