I though they weren’t gonna call up Marson,but i’m glad they did…I kinda though Golson would be part of the call up they’ll prolly use him as a late pinch runner for Burrell and stuff…Yea they need to just buy out Eatons contract and let that bum go he’s a waste of a spot on the roster.

um, theres no reason to bring up carrasco unless youre going to start him more than once. same with happ. weve seen how guy sget messed up when theyre brought up improperly.

adam eaton is trash i dont ever want to see him out there again. HEY, GILLICK, JUST SUCK IT UP AND RELEASE HIM/PAY HIM OFF. get that shit out of here.

cant wait to see lou marson. cant wait to see golson.

ill hvae to think well see donald and some bullpen arms coming up. eaton doesnt count, happ is a starter. i want like 2-3 bullpen guys added to the mix there.

cubs series: GREAT effort to come back and earn the split. i saw the saturday game on fox while i was in NY. they shouldve swept the cubs but im glad they showed some mental toughness to battle and earn the series split. they needed those games.

Gavin, I think they’re probably waiting until the other league’s seasons are over in the next few days (like someone else pointed out). They can’t just call them up, send them down to get others, etc. in September. They have to sit back and plan for how many are needed in certain positions, and if there’s not a need, quite frankly, why bother? I guess it wouldn’t hurt anything to have 10 extra pitchers sitting on their asses all month, but I don’t really know how that would help them. It’s not like there’s that much work to go around – and our regular bullpen has to pitch every few days anyways to stay sharp.

whats the harm in bringing up Carrasco, Carpenter, Swindle? At worst they dont pitch. At best they give the important guys a rest during a blowout. I dont get it.

Rollins and Utley are hitting well over .300 since batting one-two putting speed on the base paths ahead of Burrell and Howard. Burrell has been in an extended slump but yesterday seemed to be seeing the ball better. This team really needs Pat Burrell to hit going down the stretch. Give Charlie credit for a well managed game yesterday. Jamie Moyer continues to show what it is to pitch verses just throw out there and is amazing to watch. Keep your fingers crossed no gets hurt.

Why even bring him up? Maybe just to get a feel for the big club atmosphere. But where do you pitch him? Or for that matter, where do you pitch Happ? Happ has proven he’s not suited for a reliever’s role and I imagine the same will be true for Carrasco. Why not bring up one of our relievers or a hitter?

It would have made a lot of sense to call up a promising outfielder before 12 AM last night just in case one of the regulars gets hurt. The problem with winning with the call ups is you can’t take them to the post season so you lose that strength. I guess they believe Jenkins will return in good form to play the post season. He was just turning the corner when he got hurt but with the hip flexor problem he won’t be taking any BP so his timing will be off for sure.

It would be a surpise if the Phils don’t bring up Carrasco to get him use to the clubhouse and try and get him a few innings but he’s not going to be used like Joba or Samardjza.

Joba and Carrasco are different pitchers, Joba’s a straight blow away guy with dominating pitches wheras Carrasco needs to be able to locate his fastball and set up his curve which just isn’t closer material.

The reason Lidge is so effective is if a hitters going to jump on his fastball then they have to go out of the zone for it much of the time because they can’t pick-up that nasty slider. That’s just not Carrasco…

In the article about the call-ups on the official site is says that Eaton and Happ are going to be used in relief roles, but not high leverage ones. So basically Happ will be a LOOGY and Eaton will pitch in toilet time. Manuel is quoted in the article as saying ”I swith catchers alot, so he’ll (Marson) get into a few games”. He also said he liked Golson as a pinch runner and late inning replacement. Would’ve been nice to see Cervanek and another pitcher up.

Roberton had no bat and only above average wheels on the base paths and Bourn was a slap hitter with an under-developed bat, am not sold on Golson’s ability to be an effective everyday hitter but there was nothing to loose giving him a cup of coffee at this point.

The Mets haven’t called anyone up yet officially, we seem to be the only team yesterday that made noticable internal roster moves for purpose of the play-off roster.

Roberson sucked. Golson is 100 times better, plus he’s immediatley going to be one of the best base stealers in the bigs. That boy can run.

Ryan, Roberson was traded to the Orioles(I believe) in the past off-season.

I would like to see another pitcher or two join the big club, even if they only pitch in a mop-up role, it will be something.

That’s possible — didn’t think about that.

Donald would be a nice bench bat, regardless of burning options. Honestly, if you don’t know about a player by three years of ups and downs, then get rid of the player.
