The Phils road trip continues in Dodgertown, in this second game of a four-gamer against Manny, Kent, Ethier, Kemp and Co. The Phils lost Monday night, with Kyle Kendrick blowing up and the offense not doing enough on the national stage to win it. No worries, Cole Hamels is on the mound tonight. Right?
Lonely Cole: Hamels hasn’t won since early July. It’s time for him to get a W.
No Clayton: The Phillies have never faced Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw. The rookie has let up just one run in his last 19 innings.
How About That: Ryan Howard reached the 100-RBI plateau last night. He now has 453 RBI in 528 career games. Staggering.
Eastern Promises: As of the post, the Mets are tied with the Nationals; the Marlins are beating the Cardinals 4-3.
Roll Around: Jimmy Rollins is hitting third tonight, with Shane Victorino leading off. I can dig that.
Phillies: Cole Hamels (9-8) 3.35 ERA
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw (2-3) 3.71 ERA
Gametime: 10:10 p.m. EST
Weather: 79, sunny
Lineup: Victorino/Utley/Rollins/Howard/Burrell/Werth/Coste/Bruntlett/Hamels

Your gamenight beer: Any beer that calls itself “Entire Butt” is good in my book. But Entire Butt Porter might be the greatest beer ever created. Full of taste, it goes down like water that was magically sprayed by the gods. So godly water, really. That’s the general focus of the discussion. What do you eat with this? Something with mild spice. Something that makes you want to run to the beer and enjoy every last sip. Something … well, something warm, is the gist of the explanation I’m making. Go with beef and peppers.
Go Phillies!

I think he’s a current stoner. I’m a stoner, so I can usually tell a stoner from a mile away. J-Roll is a stoner too.

I think there’s something mildly wrong with Werth. He’s not all there or something.

Only the nationals wouldn’t be able to score on 2 innings worth of Mets bullpen garbage.

Hamels sucks when he has the count 1-2.
That’s a hitter’s count against Hamels.

Brett myers is a stoner. That is if you consider someone who does copius amounts of crystal meth a stoner. I also heard a rumor that shane got his troat punctured by a coral reef in a boogyboarding accident.

yeah im pretty sure rollins wont be here next year either. i just dont see it. myers wont be here for sure. i think whoever the next GM is will want to clear out all potential douchebags. those two are the biggest ones on the team..

Brilliant job by Hamels. That is what happens when hitters swing at fastballs that should be hit.

Rollins is here for the long haul, don’t kid yourselves. They aren’t quite high enough on Donald to trade an MVP.

I’m all about hating on our players when they’re struggling, but trading Rollins? Shame on you!
I wanted to trade Hamels after that 1-2 pitch to Blake.

Isn’t that something? Kershaw, aged 14, works his way out of trouble. Way to go fellas.

He’s no longer got the lead off speed, does he? Put Victorino in there and see what happens.

You guys think Hamels finally holds a lead? I think this is the night.

im advocating moving rollins simply because i feel he will do nothing but decline the rest of his career. those guys often do, shortstops i mean. there are only few vizquels in history, those guys are special and jimmy will never be in that class.

How do you know he will never be in that class?

I think Jimmy is a special player. In fact, Geoff, you may be the only person who doesn’t.

Defensively, I don’t know… Okay, I guess you’re right. I’m gonna go out on a limb though and say Jimmy is a better hitter.

i want to free up some money to resign burrell, get an elite starter, and get a top notch outfielder as well

I don’t want to resign Burrell. I know, I know I’m crazy.
But I’m ready to move on.

if there was something outthere id let burrell walk at the left field spot. theres a bunch of traah in free agency out there. theyre forced into resigning him i think. theres really, total trash aside from him.

It’s too bad we don’t have any prospects ready in the outfield. It’s a testament to how crappy our system is that we don’t have any outfielders in 3 levels of ball and 3 outfield positions to bring up and play left field for us.
That’s 9 possible left fielders next year for us… And no one is ready, right?

Hahaha no wonder why… It’s Vin Scully. I’ve heard that name a million times.

golson is ready to play awesome defense and be a basepad terror, but he cant hit and cant get on base yet. thye might have to move rollins for outfield help because there burrell, werth, vic, and then golson and nothing else. myers can be moved for more pitching

And another pitcher has set a new career high in strikeouts.

Danny, this “system” gave you Hamels, Utley, Rollins and Howard. We have an above average farm system.
You’re entitled to your opinion but don’t back up your arguments with false statements.

“We’re in the literary section of the Philadelphia line up; Coste the writer and Bruntlett the brain.”
Haha..
I’d prefer “Bruntlett the hitter”.

i think its also bene proven that the offense isnt that good in reality and they need to rework it a bit and change their philosphy

Don’t we currently have a below average farm system… without an outfielder ready to come in for a departing Burrell?
I wasn’t referring to the past, but to the present. Who cares about the past bro? It’s what have you done for me lately.

The fact that our system produced many studs over the years doesn’t help us in the outfield next year, Chase Mutley.

You’ve missed a lot of good pitching, Jamie. Hamels gave up a 2 out rbi single to Casey Blake on a 1-2 pitch. That’s about it.
