yea, a win is a win, but this pitching is not good enough to win on 1 run a night. they were lucky last night, with moyer pitching so well, but tonight kendrick goes at it, and i can guarantee 1 run, 2 runs or even 3 runs won’t do it.

I’m not in the philly area this week, I’m on vacation in the carolinas and the media here has picked up on Manuel saying that this padres series is a serious test. If we do not step up now, “we are not champions or men.” I love hearing that from Charlie. I know some people get on him, like myself – I’ll never figure out why he pulls Burell in close games – but this team needs a kick in the ass and that was a start.

i understand all that but when do they run out of excuses? this seasons theme is no excuses, and yet, from top to bottom the organization has failed to do the things it needs to to win a championship. at each juncture, there has been an excuse. even if its a good excuses. we didnt get this guy, we couldnt get that guy we wanted to do this, the play didnt work out the way it was supposed to, etc. but, all along the way, failure to live up to expectations has been the theme. that has to stop now or else the season will have been a failure, and one giant excuse.

Geoff, do me a favor. Look at the teams road/home splits. Only our star players hit better at home. I’m pretty sure there’s a reason for that. We shouldn’t be getting all over our good defensive 8 hole hitting catcher before he even comes to the plate. I do say get all over Rollins for not running out a ground ball and Utley for looking like a deer in head lights at the plate. You know what they’re capable of. When this team was putting up 6 runs a game last year, were we bashing Nunez? No…we’d say he was a great defensive 3B. FYI Ruiz has been hitting a little better lately. As for Bruntlett, he’s a utility guy. Does he deserved to get booed for filling in for an injured reigning MVP. Obviously Bruntlett is no Rollins, so don’t expect his production.

heres the thing. there is something to the negative energy thing. however, if you cant handle that then dont play pro sports. are they that mentally feeble that they cant get over it? they have to overcome the negative energy with their own positive confident energy. when they do that and perform well they will have overcome those problems.

Honestly, I think we should listen to Rollins and stop booing Ruiz and Bruntlett before they come to the plate. They aren’t Utley, Howard, Burrell, etc. They are a utility guy and a poor hitting catcher. Now they have added pressure because they’re getting booed and they know if they don’t get a hit they’re fucked. This is a tough town to play in if you’re not an all-star type player. It’s not like they’re going up there and not trying. Jimmy, he should be booed for not trying. I hope he means what he said in his rebuttle. It’ll show he is a team leader and maybe he has been playing with an injury or some shit. I hope that maybe the statement can be built on by the fans and the team and we can turn this season around for the better. Our underachieving is killing us. We should be the 2nd best team in the nL.

yeah he wouldnt be bad. they still need an insanely awesome dude at the top of the rotation. cole wont be that guy for 2 more years so we need one of those now. or…they could rebuild for when cole is ready, assuming hes locked up then. by then i hope theyve rebuilt the offense.

He probably won’t get to 300 unless he pitches till he’s 50 and wins 12+ games a year. I want him in a Phillies uniform next year as a starting pitcher.

well yeah, the guy has like 250 wins. theres no way that you can be a fraud or a choker if you have that many wins. if he wins a championship or gets to 300 hed be a good case for the hall of fame.

I took another night off from the Phillies. This time I just went to go see a show nothing stupid like last night haha. Tomorrow night I have a double at work, so I’ll be missing the game again. Sunday, I’ll probably miss the game too cause of work. I’ll get home in time for the 7th or so, but regardless I just want to take a long break from this team. To those of you who doubted me when I said Moyer is our best big game pitcher, do you believe me yet?
