I’m still a fan of Gordon’s signing. Well at least they didn’t keep Wagner. When it comes down to it, even with Gordon’s inconsistency and injuries, the Phils were better off this way.

I am a supporter of the chad durbin signing, was from the beginning. i always believe in gathering as much decent pitching as you can, espiecially those that can eat innings.

Given Gordon’s track record before he was injured, I think the DL is a perfect place for him. Better to leave a roster spot open for someone else.

I think the likelyhood of Mathieson every pitching again in the majors are slim to none. Second TJ surgeries have a pretty low success-rate around 30% or so I believe I’ve read.

Its a real shame that Mathieson continues to get hurt in the minors, he was supposed to be our big league closer by this year, he would have been an excellent setup guy, but TJ bit him in the butt. I think twice actually?

Who the hell is Tom Gordon? …is this that guy that used to matter, but then Chad Durbin (another bad sign by Gillick) took his job..

Our back-end of the bullpen has all been brought in by Pat Gillick.. Durbin, Romero, Lidge.. nice work Pat.

As we can’t bank on seeing Gordon return I’d love us to add a hard-throwing arm to the back of the pen which we are in dire need of but it’s not going to happen. Anyone of any real potential won’t reach us through waivers to make a deal particularly since the Mets are looking in the same places we are and hold that card over us.

We have to hope to address the situation from within, we draft hard throwing guys but seem largely unwilling to give the high reward ones a chance.

It could just be some tendonitis from not throwing for awhile. Let’s hope it’s nothing structural. It certainly doesn’t sound good though if they are sending him to Ciccotti.

They should just pop about 4 needles of cortisone in there and give him the thumbs up. Let’s face it, he’s most likely not going to be pitching next year.

they now DEFINITELY need a new setupman like weve said all along. tom gordon was awesome in his day. i was kind of hoping hed come back for one more stretch run before he retires. ill bet hes done though. shame.

now they will finally, hopefully, realize that they need a setupman and not another loogy.
