Hey Fred we need a way of distinguishing between the two of us. And btw i agree with you about AAA, how can AA be stronger than AAA ? If it was stronger than why bother promoting Carrasco, you might as well demote him to A+ !

It’s so hard to judge whether the Phils prospects are better placed in LV than Reading but the VP’s in the FO know better than we do. The kids got great stuff but is still learning to pitch, in AAA he’ll see more patient and seasoned hitters which should improve his command instead facing the usually more talented but nevertheless hackers in AA.

our managment doesnt know how to project pitching, thats why we barely have any.

do you really think theyd refuse to trade carrasco for sabathia if he really projected as a 3rd starter? thats insane, if he projects to a 3 then you trade him for somehting better. OBVIOUSLY thats bullshit, he projects higher than taht. but the phillies do NOT value pitching organizationally speaking. so they undervalue what he actually CAN POTENTIALLY BE.

Then why even have AAA? Just so you can field a team of almost-cans? If you follow your logic then A ball has more raw talent than AA ball. That would put the short season Clearwater Phillies in the GCL with the most talent. I don’t buy that. Can’t help it if the Phils have little or no real major league talent at the AAA level. The PCL consistently grades out as the best minor league.

Talk to Don M about it. I think it’s Don M anyway. He read a book that vastly covers the minor leagues. He can explain it better than I can. AAA is mostly for older guys without the talent to make it to the majors.

Huh, since when is this the chain of events? Almost all of the Phillies homegrown players past and present spend more than a cup of coffee in AAA. And that’s true for most other organizations, too.

No Fred, they’re in AAA because they’re probably about to be promoted. AA is the training grounds AAA is your last step before getting there. If you’re someone projected to be an impact player in the majors you spend most of your time in AA and then very little time in AAA before the call up.

7 out of the Top 10 minor league prospects are in AAA (Baseball America). Sounds like maybe AAA has more talent.

Fred, the best talent is in AA. AAA is for guys that just aren’t going to be able to cut it in the majors, but they have more experience. AA is where all of the natural raw talent guys are that are just trying to develop their game. AAA is the step you usually take before going to the majors so that you can play against guys with more patience and experience but without the talent at AA/majors.
