actually werth has been pretty inconsistent, but when he’s on, he’s usually on big time. hopefully he can deliver more performances like that if he wants to prove he’s an everyday player.

How solid has Werth been this year? He is the one carrying the team right now offensively. Another solid if unspectacular move made by Gillick. Gillick gets alot of heat for not being able to land the big time players during the season but he has made some pretty stealth moves that have improved our team alot. You have Werth, Romero, Lidge, Rowand (at the time), Dobbs, Moyer, etc. Sure he has had his faliures as any GM has but these moves have been solid. And you have to love Stairs’s comments about coming to Philly for a 40 yr old guy who is at the end of his career and will be a PH here.

Let’s get the split today boys.

I hate when guys show up he other team. Yesterday I was watching the michigan game and the coach’s rule is that after a touchdown, You hand the ball to the referee. Great rule love the sportmanship of coach rod. And I am a penn state fan.

well, as many of us have said on here, it is either longball or nothing with this club.

They have runners on first and second with no outs in the first inning, Utley just worked a 5 pitch walks, then Burrell swings at the first pitch. From there is was all downhill in the first inning. The fact that they can’t score a run, or even advance the runner to third in that situation is appalling to me. The Anaheim Angels would have scored at least 2 runs that inning.

Like I have said before, this team might make the playoffs, but they better pray for Sabathia’s arm to fall off for them to have a chance of beating the brew-crew in the first round.

JC was just showing that he has heart and cares that much about winning. The biggger problem is that taguchi is still on this team.. He’s hitting like .202 and who’s gonna step up and do something about utley getting hit every game. Give soriano some chin music and stand up for your best player

The celebration thing is ridiculous. There’s a reason I never commented on Jose Reyes or Fernando Tatis — they have the liberty to celebrate their good work wherever they are. If they want to face “consequences” (fan vitriol, talk-radio fodder) then so be it.

Who cares about the celebration, really? It doesnt change the score, its not cheating, who cares. If its that excesive then let the managers or MLB handle it. The real story here is that we won, and are now one behind the Mets. Making something out of nothing with this. I wouldnt give a shit if Reyes did cartwheels around the bases. If the opposing pitchers have a problem with it, dont allow him to get in a position to do it. If the opposing players have a problem with it then out do him, just make sure you can cartwheel as fast as you can run because I would have a problem with it if it slowed the game down but it doesnt.

and I don’t have a problem with Romero celebrating, but if you don’t and do have problems with Reyes, thats just the definition of bias. and for the guy who said he doesn’t like how they do the hand shakes, its a better way to celebrate than throwing it in the opposition’s face on the field.

I’m a Mets fan, and I like to read the comments/post here, you know, keep your enemies close. I don’t post, and I see how dumb some of the Mets fans who post are, but bringing Heilman in WAS the right move. He had thrown 12 scoreless innings vs. the Marlins this year and most of there players has pathetic numbers against him, and he didn’t even allow a hit. He decided since that they can’t hit him he’s just going to walk everybody in.

if romero had gone back to the dugout and done some 3rd grade, secret treehouse high five/handshake bullshit with clay condrey, i would have been pissed. just showing emotion isn’t a problem with me, hot dogging and showboating are. for example i don’t like how werth constantly does the “safe” sign towards the ump when he runs out a close play. but i do like when he hits two homeruns in a game.

the mets lost so the phils are now one game back, correct? also they released benson.
