you guys are so right about the bandwagoners and the college crowd at the phillies. that’s why when games are sold out and you see 10,000 empty seats in the 5th inning. they don’t give a shit about watching and breaking down the game. it’s a night out in town for those people. they get blind drunk and walk around all night. they probably don’t even watch most of the games on TV.

haha… after probably 4 years off I was at Reading a couple years ago.. little kids hitting like 45mph on the gun, so I stepped up talking smack to my fiance and her family and all that I would hit at least 70mph..

Jumped right up there.. threw my arm out on the first pitch… 48mph…( I used to throw 55-60mph when I was 12-13 years old) after that first one I couldn’t throw anymore. my arm still hurts to this day, like a never-ending case of Tendonitis..

Lesson Learned… ALWAYS STRETCH BEFORE YOU THROW ANYTHING!!

yeah i know. or the ones that still dont get the concept that if you go to get crab fries youre going to miss 2-3 innings.

another colllege thing to do is when they stand in line for the sake of standing in a line. for instance: one conecssion sells hot dogs, chicken fingers, fries, etc. the ADJACENT concession, with a DIFFERENT sign and name, sell the SAME food. one of them has a HUGE line, the other one has no line but sells the same food. when you walk over to the empty one and get food and leave they look puzzled and upset.

People don’t want to pay $50 a ticket to see the Flyers unless they follow them.. they play so many home games.. its not like the NFL, 8 home games and people think its worth it to pay $200 for a standing-room-only seat, when you can get a much better view from your own couch.

The Phillies cheap seats are low enough that people can go down there as many times as they want.. my personal favorite are the people that buy tickets.. but leave in the 4th to go sit at McFadden’s drinking…

Yeah thats basically correct. The college crowd abandoned the eagles and has shifted to the phillies. What I really like is the college crowd hasnt really infiltrated the flyers network. the flyers are different. you can tell people who havent followed them their whole lives and you do get some yuppie college people once in a while but the games are so expensive its usually limited to legit fans or businesses. Theres nothing really fake about a big-time flyers game. there is at atmosphere in that place thats just different.

i feel that half the people walking down ashburn alley dont even know where they are. rollins has to learn how to speak about such things. he cant tell that. he knows there are die-hards but he probably thinks there are less of them than there really are.

I agree with what FRED said earlier in the post..

CBP is really just a destination for people.. instead of going to the bar and watching the Phillies.. they go get drunk at the Ballpark and watch a few minutes of baseball in between their drinking and drama.

Down in the Wachovia parking lot before the Flyers-Devils when the Orange clinched a playoff berth (best Flyers game ever).. I was saying that to my buddies, that the college crowd (im just a few years removed from it..) but that the college crowd is going to be all about the Phillies now, and the Eagles will take a back seat in terms of the tailgaiting and all that stuff… THOSE fans are frontrunners.. Just like all Mets fans

Yeah hes not going to want to stay around here, you can tell from his interview yesterday. He got booed hard it seemed on TV. but they censored them although they did a terrible job censoring them.

I’ve been a Phils fan for 55 years and I have to admit Rollins is right. However when I am at the park it has been my observation that the majority of the fans are not booing at all. Yes there are always a number of big mouth Jackasses in any crowd, but it has always been that way. Unfortunately they are the ones to get noticed! I also think he is protecting an under performing team by taking the heat himself. The fans memory’s are very long in Philly and he has now opened the door for more abuse in the future.

On Daily News Live few minutes ago they were questioning Jimmy about the whole booing situation and Leslie Gudel said “I think there’s a guy passing around cheer signs.” So campaign cheer is growing by the minute.

To me the whole atmosphere at the ballpark has changed since CBP opened. Where going to the Vet was primarily for watching a game, CBP seems to be more of party central that just happens to have a ballgame going on.

Granted I’m an old gray beard and probably stuck in the past a little too much.

Richie Allen…Boston pitchers are home grown or given a ton of money, hence why they are there.

Also I have been to games where the heckling (of opposing teams) is out standing but at other games everyone justs sits there quietly and doesnt get in to it.
