lets see if you can understand this…brett myers to the tigers for whatever they got in the cabinet. sign derek lowe, sign oliver perez, trade j-hole for mark buehrle..sign casey blake to play a corner outfield spot…sign juan cruz to add another arm to the mix…keep howard utley werth victorino goldon marson donald ruiz lidge durbin romero eyre madson hamels blanton happ. they can afford all that…but they dont want to win so they wont to half of that.

really…MIKE ARBUCKLE? what the F has he done to show any value at all..hes one of the main problems and reasons why we dont have a good farm system. bad farm system = bad farm director. hes the FIRST guy thats gotta go EVEN BEFORE AMARO..owners that want to win dont care if they GM is vocal…

DO YOU UNDERSTAND??… that you contradict yourself more and more with each post… if we haven’t been planning for the future, then how did we improve each of the past 3 seasons with homegrown talent at the helm… and how are Jason Donald and Lou Marson going to be the All-Stars that you project them to be ??

DO YOU UNDERSTAND? No GM is stupid enough to DEMAND shit from their owners and complain about them to the public.. cause then they’ll lose their job and no other owners would ever hire them.. its not that hard a concept to grasp.. I’d rather not have Amaro be named the next GM, but I wouldn’t have any problem at all with Arbuckle, who is raved about by the rest of baseball year in and year out..

you know what? when they win a championship, then someof this stuff can be justified…but they have failed to produce anything. this ownership group took over and they destroyed the team until 1993 then destroyed them again until recently. what kind of a piss poor record is that?

they hire people like gillick and wade who will do what theyre told to do and keep their mouths shut. you guys are the exceptions. the sucker fans. youre not involved in this, do you understand?

a real general manager has all phases of the team development and personnel system working in conjunction with each other and in unison. they put the pieces on teh field and they have their roster projected years in advance. but the phillies dont do business that way..maybe they will sometime soon liek when they hire a new GM not named amaro or arbuckle. maybe if a real owner buys the team.

until then you know what you get? you get adam eaton, rod barajas, rudy seanez, david bell, wes helms, geoff jenkins, etc etc etc etc. THATS WHAT YOU GET, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND? winning is about having a well laid plan that is researched, well-prepared, and sound. if you have to adjust on the fly you do it based on trying to achieve your goal in the shortest amount of time.

but if your goal is not to win soon or at all, then youre not going to make decisions conducive to that are you? these owners are not trying to win, they want to be competetive enough to suck money out of you.

if they happen to stumble upon a championship along the way, like fall into one (cardinals in 06, total bullshit luck), HEY, great!!! ill take it…but dont think itll become a trend with these clowns.

Same dudes that were PISSED we didn’t “get anything in return” for Abreu, and failed to see the logic in letting him go instead of paying him $15 Million, and then a $16 Million option after that… what you got in return for that deal was your money freed-up so you can sign players like Utley and Lidge to extensions

Jamie Moyer will probably not repeat his performance next year… BUT.. he was better this year than he was last year, so maybe there is no gaurantee that he won’t stay “hot” for another year or two..

if you had your way and we traded everyone or released them, just because they’ve already had their “best” season.. we’d be without Rollins, Howard, Moyer, Coste, Burrell, etc… all those guys that makeup the team..

just because a guy probably won’t duplicate his CAREER year, doesn’t mean its time for him to go

sheets? injured too much big mistake
burnett? can dominate, not worth what he thinks he is, going to stay in toronto anyway

garland? overrated, overpriced
perez? if hes affordable why not risk it?

thats the best of the free agent pitching i think…you try to fill the hole with the best guy out there that you can get…you dotn just accept that you wont get him and then SUCK because you didnt fill a hole.

also, who says that you cant sign him? why not? seriously? what kind of bottom feeding loser attitutde is that?

they sold out like 50 games this year, they can afford to splurge on someone. they SHOULD get him…but we know they wont even try and then lie to us again and act like they were right in there…

It’s not re-building, did the Cubs re-build when they drafted Samarjdza or the Yanks when they paid for Chamberlin instead of scurrying around FA hoping for a guy like Durbin who’s a FA all over again?

IT’S NOT RE-BUILDING! Anyway so if you were GM and after all the we need this and that your shopping list is Derek Lowe, thats hardly the fills the vacancies you’ve spouted on about. It sounds like to want the best of all world without compromise.

Nothing is wrong with it… its just a lot easier said than done.. thats the problem. If all GMs made trades and aquisitions like we do in fantasy baseball, and could “create players” like we all do in video games, we’d have 5 Championships in the past year… but in REALITY… they try to do what they can with what they’ve got..

they took chances on guys like David Bell and Tom Gordon… more recently on Feliz and Lidge.. so they are going in the right direction

why do that when you have a core in place to supplement with established players while you wait for your farm to rebuild?

ok but im just letting you know..im OK with drafting those guys and having them ready soon and overpaying for them…but still thats two years to three years off assuming you implement this with the new GM…what are you going to do until then? there arent many guys close to being ready. if you dont want to sign FA’s to fill the gaps you are going to SUCK for 3 years until your kids are ready…ASSUMING THEY PAN OUT!!!!

im saying…do that, AND go into free agncy…get someone to play RF, get some starters in here, a setup man, and youll be fine until youre ready to go younger again….

you act like they cant afford to do both. theyve got an assload of money right now..use it. with Americans its always one extreme or the other…

why cant you rebuild your farm system WHILE keeping your top squad competitive through trades and FA? whats so damn wrong with that? seriously?
