No team wants Howard that much to give the Phillies anything worth trading him for. The guy is a strike out machine and take him out of the ballpark he plays in 82 games a year his HR numbers will drop off a bit.

Don’t be surprised to see the Yankees sign Sabathia and Teixeira in free agency, and trade for Ryan Howard to be their DH. The Yankees are basically their own mint.

Trade Howard for pitching, move Burrell to first and somehow trade for Holiday(might cost the farm, but would be worth it if we could resign him ar a good price) — I’m on board.

The Yankees are busily talking about getting younger… and not continuing the trend of scooping up everyone’s “just passed their prime” players and hoping they’ll score another year or two of continued success. They’ve had to bite more than enough bullets on bad contracts over the last couple of years. They’re looking forward to $70 Million coming off the payroll with exactly those types of players. Howard might get traded… but I don’t think it will be to the Yankees.

You never know with Hankenstein, though… Once they don’t get Sebathia (who will probably go to the west coast), they’re probably going to get hungry for pitching before position players…

well, id take it one step at a time. after howard goes for pitching which he will, i guarantee that. you can try to get some power from elsewhere. burrell would go to first base.

I’d take Phil Hughes straight up for Howard right now, move Burrell to first and then trade for Holliday. The package for Holliday could include Carrasco since Hughes has a much higher ceiling and makes him surplus to requirments. Rotation would be Hamels Myers Moyer Happ Blanton and Hughes

howard has trade value. the yankees are all over him, jsut wait and see. the yankees will make sabathia the highest paid starter in free agent history. then, theyll get howard in a trade of some sort so they dont have to over pay for tex too.

kendrick has to improve to be in the rotation next year, period. he gets wins but hes ERA is unacceptable for a 5th starter. it WAS fine but hes since declined noticeably of late.

Kendrick is not talented enough to be in the starting rotation in a pennant race. A pitcher was needed today to keep the game close and hold the National’s offense down while the Phillies hitters tried to catch up to Tim Redding. How many times have the Phillies faced Tim Redding and Johan Santana so far this year? Probably will face them both one more time yet.

You would hope that the Phillies would require that Kendrick develop another pitch or two for next year before they consider him part of the rotation. Depending on the consistency of that sinker ball all of the time just does not hack it. I agree that Happ would be a better option for the rotation at this stage of the game and probably even into next season.
