Headline: Four-game set could determine Phils’ fate
The Major Players: Jamie Moyer, Chase Utley, Pat Burrell, Ryan Madson, JC Romero, Ben Sheets, Corey Hart, Rickie Weeks
The Venue: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pa.
The Number: 3.5 games behind (Mets) NL East; 4 games behind (Brewers) Wild Card

Every game from hereon is starting to take “must-win” status, and tonight is no joke. The Brewers are in for an important four-game set, and Jamie Moyer comes out on three-days rest to try and beat the Crew. He has never pitched on three-days rest for the Phils, the last time doing it in 2004, a seven-run slaughter in five innings.

Ben-eath The Sheets: Ben Sheets hasn’t faced the Phillies this season. The goal: Be patient. Take strikes and balls early and get him into high counts. By the seventh inning, he sould be raring for a bad inning. In the seventh hitters are .351 against him. In the sixth, they’re .292.

Not A Prince: Prince Fielder is hitting .176 in September.

Good When Close: The Brewers are 28-14 in one-run games

Phillies: Jamie Moyer (13-7) 3.64 ERA
Brewers: Ben Sheets (13-7) 2.82 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 71, cloudy
Lineup:

Beer!MLB TV
MLB Gameday Audio
MLB Gameday

Your gamenight beer: I feel good about the Phils chances tonight. Really. Sheets is the kind of righty the Phils can hit, despite how good he has been this season. Moyer should have another great game. Add it up and it’s a win, baby. Drink Southern Tier’s Raspbery Porter. It’s a raspberry beer. So I love it. Eat some pork loin with this, kids.

Go Phillies!

Moyer is the man. I admire him.

Wish the car dealerships had those kind of rivalries here, but I’m near the Turnersville Automall and they’re just all lumped together.

If anyone gives Moyer a hard time for tonight’s start then they don’t know that they’re talking about. He pitched a hell of a game on 3 days rest.

I love it when people cannot believe a father is actually on this site.

I have not been able to get on Phillies Nation blog for fear of a heart attach.
I spoke to Chad a few days ago, and he sore.
I think they all are as they were used pretty heavily during the most of the season.
No excuse, but I cannot watch.

Carlos Ruiz and Pedro Feliz on fire…!! I like that

    Holy Chooch.

Good job Ruiz and Feliz for getting one of those back for Moyer. He deserves a win tonight, no ifs ands or buts.

Ruiz! (Now would have been the time to PH for Moyer)

So any predictions for the rest of the season!

I’m sorry Joe, but it is difficult to believe. Nothing against you.

There aren’t any sweet mascots for dealerships in Philly to do battle. So all that we have is Cherry Hill Triplex Guy vs. Cherry Hill Nissan Giant.

    And that’s ok with me.

    why did madson hiot?

I get the feeling this umpire practices ringing people up on called third strikes in the mirror. He is so theatrical. Wonder if he’s preparing for the MLB annual Umpire Talent Show.

I feel for you guys. Watching the bullpen go to pieces when it has been so strong is not fun!

    I didn’t know J-roll was our best hitter with runners in scoring position… He’s our lead-off guy>!

Anyway, thought I would say hello, but just got home from work.
    Phoenix time!
    Got to eat!

Madson hit because he hasn’t been used as much lately. Just can’t bring a guy in for a couple pitches and let him go with 3 full innings left. Like it or not, Madson has been relatively reliable in the 6th and 7th innings lately.

It feels weird to say it, but man I don’t feel all that comfortable with Utley up there now.

    Come on Chase!

I agree with SJ Mike. There are 3 full innings left

My bad! Werth is up! Go Werth!

Madson hit because we need someone in the bullpen to go longer than 1 inning. And they aren’t going to throw wes walrond or whomever to go out there and blow this lead. Charlie is going to use the guys who got him here.

I think he should trick out his uniform for that talent show, maybe some sequins?

How long has it been since Utley’s last HR?

Georgie, that would be pretty sweet.

3 more innings. Moyer pitched brilliantly with guts going on short rest and challenged hitters who can mash. Time to step it up, guys.

Utley needs a rest, he looks wasted.

joe in case you read later, i think if the phils sweep this series they make the playoffs. if they win 3-1, it’ll come right down to the last game of the season and could go any way. we’ll see what happens!

    Houston up 2-0….

jimmy has an extra bounce in his step tonite, and it looks like Howard is losing weight and moving better.

    Good inning for Madson

I like Rollins hustle tonight. Even though he was out on that bloop single that he tried to stretch to 2, that’s the kind of play we need. And that force out at 2nd to end the 6th, he almost beat that out.

So far so good, but we still gotta get though the dreadful 8th inning.

I think I will mute and blindfold for the dreaded 8th.

    UTLEY NEEDS A BREAK

Man Pat the Bat is definitly back to himself,i don’t think it’s a good idea to bring him back…Alright here we go 8th inning.

utley looks like he would benefit from a diet of greasy cheeseburgers and fries for a while.

8th inning…ah! I wanna turn off my tv

Brad needs to go 2 here. I do not like Madsen facing their best hitters.

I really dislike the idea of putting Lidge for 2 innings
Madson is looking solid so far

I hope I’m wrong, belive me Manny.

Great job Madson! Clap clap clap

Madson was solid tonight. Scott Eyre needs to get one out here or I DO BRING in Lidge for Hart.

Eyre couldn’t get Fielder…now its Chad Durbin…too much drama for an inning

Man now it’s up to Durbin and he’s been horrible lately…I can’t stand these 8th innings.

This is the worst managerial mistake ever. I really hope Chad does it, BUT WHY NOT BRING IN LIDGE FOR FOUR OUTS WITH YOUR SEASON ON THE GOD DAMN LINE!
