Headline: Phils set for biggest game of season
The Major Players: Brett Myers, Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell, Chad Durbin, JC Romero, Jeff Suppan, Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun
The Venue: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pa.
The Number: 1.5 games behind (Mets) NL East; 1 game behind (Brewers) Wild Card
The Phillies’ bats came alive late, and the good guys took care of business against the Brewers in the afternoon. Now it’s the nightcap, the big one, the chance to make huge noise. With a win, the Phils will be tied atop the NL Wild Card race and a game behind the Mets in the NL East race. Brett Myers has the ball.
Hiccup: Before Myers gave up four earned runs to the Marlins Wednesday, he had only surrendered five runs in the previous month of games.
Like Mike: No Brewer hitter is very successful against Myers, except Mike Cameron, who has two homers in 10 at bats against the righty.
Big Bat?: Hopefully Pat Burrell can carry his hitting into game two. It’s very possible — he has two homers and seven ribbies in 20 at bats against Jeff Suppan.
Savior Down: In his last full inning of work, JC Romero has given up three runs, two hits and two walks. Needless to say, he needs a couple big performances down the stretch.
Phillies: Brett Myers (9-11) 4.22 ERA
Brewers: Jeff Suppan (10-8) 4.63 ERA
Gametime: 7:35 p.m. EST
Weather: 84, partly cloudy
Lineup: Rollins/Werth/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Victorino/Feliz/Coste/Myers

Your gamenight beer: Tonight the Phils can reach the summit of the Wild Card standings. With that, root for a clean sweep and drink Summit India Pale Ale. Good with some carbs — rice, pasta, something of that ilk. Really, at this point it’s all about the Ws. Let’s get one tonight, go into the final 12 with huge momentum, and take care of business.
Go Phillies!

What are the odds Howard goes yard again?

Very very very good. I don’t see why teams pitch to him. I wouldn’t. 55 HR’s before the regular season is over.

I think Howard will go 4-4 with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs. He’s just on fire lately :)

This is very similar to the chance the Phils had a week ago today. Had a chance to bring it even with the Mets and ended up blowing it and it’s taking another week to get back to where we were. Hopefully tonight they can finish the deal and get on top of the wild card.

Hamels couldn’t bring his A game last week and Meyers has looked almost unshakable. I’m not saying he’s a better pitcher overall, but he’s got his confidence and the Brewers have been asleep at the plate. Its different than going up against the Mets and getting beat by Delgado when he’s on a tear like last Sunday.

Go Phils..Its just like last year only better…
Hope myers brings his “A” game ..
Im surprised that they are starting Burrell in the nitecap…even though he had 2 hits..just surprised..Guess Charlie is going with his lucky lineup.

It’s sad, but I feel like losing this game would feel worse than if we lost 3 out of 4. They NEED to sweep to stay in these races. A loss will put them back to 3 in the loss column behind the Mets, and 2 against the Brewers, and time is running out.

Just hope that, if needed, Lidge is available to pitch tonight. He didn’t really need to close the last game.

Yea, why is this blacked out on MLB.tv? I’m all the way up in CT so the only time its blacked out is if they play Mets, Yankess or Red Sox.

Sorry to be off topic but make sure you all turn on Sportscenter tonight and watch the highlights of the end of the Broncos-Chargers game. Craziest ending to a football game i have ever seen. The Chargers got robbed. Go Birds.

That comeback shouldn’t of even happened. Refs need to let the play happen and swallow the whistle, that was definitly a fumble.

Nice start. I’d like to see about 16 runs on the board for us by the end of the night. Oh, and less than 16 for the Brewers.

Yeah, Chargers got jobbed. Then again though, I got to see that and the 49ers win and the end to Falcons/Bucs and Jets/Patriots all in a few minutes. Love Sunday Ticket.

Its bs how we can’t get verizon fios in philly. I’d dump cable if it weren’t for csn. My cable is constantly fuzzy, frozen or not working. The comcast tech said I had the worst cable network connection he has seen in the 18 yrs of working with comcast.

Eli, the only place I found where you can listen to the game is on MLB gameday audio. It’s $15 for an entire season and you can listen to any game from any team, and it’s archived, so if you wanted to go back and listen to Lester’s no-hitter, it’s there for you. That has been a God-send for me, as I now live in Canada and can’t watch a game that doesn’t include the Jays, unless it’s on FOX. Probably a waste of money this late in the season, but it’s nice to have. Go Phils!!

I’m so used to satellite now that I hate to have to switch over to cable, and since getting HD, don’t even like to watch stuff not in HD.

We got some sweet luck on Coste getting to third and Myers coming in safe at home… damn those were both close!
Listen to that crowd though: everyone is into it. Cheering for individual pitches, going nuts for every hit, booing meetings at the mound. Shit I love this city!
