[excuse me can't spell his name right] he borrowed money from the league office to win a pennant. He at one time owed one hundred and ten million dollars.But he was committed to winning and did what it took so don’t tell me the phillies can’t do more. Chicago splits there market detroit isn’t near our market ,texas has been cutting expense. and I will say it again they payed thirty million for a team worth almost half billion. You can talk about other markets but the fact remains we are the fourth or fifth largest market. we border four states. Why can’t they generated more revenue. They are cheap bastard and only a handful of people like you believe the bull shit that they have budjects and all the other crap.so go ahead and tried to justifey what they do but 8 out of 10 know its bullshit. They just want to be in race without spending over budject screw the people is there logo.

That doesn’t count Boston, Phoenix, Detroit, Houston…. all cities that either have their own Network (Atlanta Braves had all that TBS money).. or teams that are in more populated places.

I can’t believe they were at one time fifth in payroll. I know in 2003 major league baseball gave them eleven million as a small market. for three straight years they got part of the luxury tax, I don’t believe they should be lower than six in payroll. Only boston new york chicago but they spit the market and los angeles should be able to beat them to players.But this is about spending what it takes to win getting the right gm. in place better scouts. A committment from the owners to go after top talent. The part that get me is if they went out and spent more most people wouldn’t complain about tickets prices if we knew they were really trying to win. Why can’t they go after a sheets or burnett this year. and a top outfielder they could add thirty million more and still make money. Even if they lost money for a couple of years remember they are sitting on over four hundred million dollar profit from what they paid to what it’s worth.

I am just learning about baseball. But I Always thought a number two hitter should be able to bunt[rollins doesn't] should be able to hit behind runner[rollins can't] take pitches and work walks rollins wont do that.give himself up to move runners any way you can.

Rollins 6th?? That is the worst thing I have ever heard. He needs to be batting 2nd. He would be an EXCELLENT no. 2 hitter. He gets on base a good amount and has great speed on the bases.

i like his production, but he really is the strikeout king and you cant have that. you jsut cant. theyre not going to want to give him 14mm in arb next year.

I still think we cant lose Rollins ,just for the fact that he is a tremendous defensive force….and ,as someone noted here,maybe he isnt a leadoff hitter..hit him 6th.
But as opposed to what I thought earlier in the year,Howard puts up numbers but they are usually never in pressure situations.(He also isnt the best defensive 1st baseman).He usually strikes out when you need him to hit.I am now thinking- trade him before he gets a shitload of money in arbitration.
I just wonder what a good contact guy would have done in his place this year..He sure missed a lot of RBI opportunities this year,despite his numbers

Golson has more power than Bourn ever did. I think Golson can be worked with. All he really has to do is improve his OBP, because the natural tools are all there.

yeah, there are some improvements from the minors, but they’re not big time. Carassco can hopefully take over Kendrick’s rotation spot, Happ can be a bullpen arm, Lou Marson will be in the catcher’s mix and Golson can take over the So Taguchi role of pinch runner/defensive replacement/terrible hitter.
I think they’ll re-sign Burrell, the on base machine.
