Sounds to me like Hamels doesn’t want to face the Mets. You would hope your competitive number 1 pitcher would welcome the opportunity to shut down the division leading Mets. Isn’t that what a no. 1 does?

I wonder if Hamels will want to pitch that day, given his comments after his last start against the Cubs. He said all these innings have taken a toll on his body, and that 105-110 pitches is pushing the envelope this time of year, so he might want the extra days rest.

concerned phils and Chris~ regarding Hamels and his next assignment, a more accurate picture given in team report:

“Two weeks ago, the Phillies chose to give Hamels an extra day of rest rather than leaving him on his normal turn to face the rival Mets. This time, though, pitching coach Rich Dubee seemed to be in favor of using Hamels against the Mets.

But Hamels will start Tuesday night against the Nationals, and Dubee said his performance may determine if he pitches Sunday in New York or is held until Monday against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.

“If he has an easy go and doesn’t have to push it too far, we’ll think about it,” Dubee said. “We’ve got five days. We’ll see how he feels. You’d like to go with your horse every five days, if possible. But, again, we have to find out where he is physically.”

Rich Dubee said they are considering moving Hamels up to pitch the game Kendrick is supposed to pitch against the Mets…They most likely will now seeing that Kendrick sucks.

I agree with a lot of you when you say bring in Happ to start instaed of Kendrick…Walrond looked ok as a situational lefty..
Dont know if any of the others can help..
Do you really want to throw them into pressure games when were only 2 games out?

Still it’s a step closer to AAA and then the majors. He will be fine in AAA next year. He can get guys out effectively.

AA hitters batted .167 against him – that’s a lot different than the big boys.

Well you can’t say Carrasco didn’t do anything special. In July, hitters batted .167 against him. Shows what he can do. He’ll be in our rotation next year most likely.

Bisensius probably won’t get called up as they’re sending him the Arizona Fall League no sense in having him throw too many innings, specially when his abilities will be on full display along with other prospects.

I wouldn’t call them good, but it can never be bad having extra bodies. Just people to throw innings in toilet time and pinch hit in extra innings games instead of having to use a pitcher. Probably a good call not getting Carrasco up, i fear he’d be more like Floyd than Carpenter. He really didn’t do anytihng special at double A this year.

walrond is just an insurance lefty situational guy. he was good against lefties when he was up, the problem was they were trying to use him for entire innings. these are three good call ups.
