Charlie Manuel has called the mysterious early Friday meeting, according to Hal Bodley of MLB.com.
Todd Zolecki had originally reported the call for a Friday afternoon meeting, which was written on the dry-erase board in the clubhouse. Bodley said Manuel is mad about the two latest losses by the hands of the Atlanta Braves. If the Phillies won both games, they would be in position tonight to clinch the NL East title. Bodley writes:
He won’t ramble. His message will be to the point: “It’s all up to us. If we can’t get it done, it’s out fault.”
So hopefully this gets the guys running for the weekend. I don’t expect Manuel to be critical or attacking; instead, I expect him to be straight, to the point and a little fiery. The guys don’t need a fire under their butts, they just need to know that focus and intense play are the keys to taking this crown.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting.

stick a little hat on him and he can give the fight them on the beaches speech… He does look enough like Winston Churchill.

“…they just need to know that focus and intense play are the keys to taking this crown.”
Shouldn’t they already know that? I find it funny that these guys play a sport for a living and then need to be reminded of the importance of winning the games.

Once again this is why Charlie is a great players coach. Say what you want about his in-game managerial style and approach. But almost everyone of his players have said he is a great manager. I believe CC even said this when the Brewers were in Philly. I cannot defend some of his moves, but I think he is one of the best at getting the most out of his players.
A question, if Charlie managed the Mutts last year do you think they collapse? I don’t

Brian & Tim,

Yeh, get rid of that Jeltz award from Wednesday and put up the Richie Ashburn award and let it be blank or put The Phillies in it. Need something inspirational up there in the corner.

I hope Cholly lets em know these next 3 games are must win because the Mets and Brewers aren’t going anywhere and they need to stop playing like they already clinched something because thats how they looked against the Braves those last 2 games.

You gotta earn the ashburn award, the most prized and coveted award we offer. When you play like jeltz you get branded as such.
