Just put a random guy on Thursday. Give Moyer 4-days rest, let him win the game on Friday. Give Hamels 5-day rest, and win on Saturday. And we’ll be back on track.

Bad idea having the pen make a start for the Phils on Sunday. There may not be any better alternatives, but I’d rather go with an unproven youngster for 1 game than ruin our bullpen for at least 3 or 4. The Phils are finally getting their bullpen rested up after the last few weeks. The last thing they need is to over-use them again and having them blow close games in the late innings. Yes, an unproven young starter may blow the game for them. But it’s 1 game. Having a fatigued bullpen can blow far more than 1, as we all have noticed the past few weeks. Bah, not a good time of year to be having this kind of problem.

Haven’t done the maths yet myself but a friend has and aparently after sunday the Phils can go to a 4 man rotation with the need for only a couple of spot starts, don’t quote me on that though as I haven’t checked it yet myself.

if the bullpen got the start it would almost certainly be durbin out there to begin and try to take it 3 innings, then condrey, then the usual suspects to close it out. seanez would not be in that role unless in the 7-8-9 for a few outs or an inning.

i think carrasco is the best bet here. see what he can do. there’s really no downside to it, if he gets shelled, so? it’s one start for a very young pitcher. as long as they don’t have him hang around in the bullpen afterwards and mess with his head, it’ll be fine.

I don’t mean to gloat. But correct me if I’m wrong. Is it true that the Mets Shitty bullpen that the Phillies decimate, is currently in lock down mode only allowing 1 earned run in 25 innings. Is it also true that the once mighty Phillies bullpen can’t pitch out of a paper bag. Hmmm.. just wondering, this is not a good time for the phillies bullpen to suck nuts. Especially since the Phillies starting pitchers(with the exception of Jamie he just knows how to pitch Moyer) Suck even worse nuts. My, how things have turned for the Phillies. OUCH.

Happ’s definitely the best option. His line as a starter this year is solid if unspectacular (11 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 8 BB, 8 K), and even though it’s the predominantly RHB Brewers, Happ actually has a reverse split thanks to his changeup (LHB .245 BAA, RHB .229 BAA at Lehigh Valley this year).

If not Happ, then I honestly think Carrasco’s the next best option. He has to be placed on the 40-man this offseason anyway, and while I’d rather not expose him to a pennant race while he’s still developing, he’s a far better option than Kendrick, Eaton and the like.

BRING UP CARRASCO. i really dont get this. Its not like he’s going to the Arizona Fall League. Presumably he’s still in the united states. He’s much much better than kendrick and probably better than happ. no reason he shouldnt start tomorrow or sunday.

They released Benson last week. I’m a fan of Carrasco…see how he does, with Happ ready to come out of the pen if he gets into trouble at all. Lets see how Carlos does in a pressure situation.

I am more worried about Moyer on 3 days rest than whoever is going to start Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, Moyer has been awesome this season, but usually he has 5 days rest and only occasionally the normal 4 days rest. He hasn’t pitched on 3 days rest in over 2 years.

Happ should just take Kendrick’s spot in the rotation for the rest of the season. It’s only 3 more starts and Happ is already lined up to take that spot anyway after last night. He can’t be worse than Kendrick and then don’t have anybody better. I have heard that Carrasco is shut down anyway so it doesn’t seem like he is even an option.
