One other thought….a few days late. Many of you know Chris Coste is my main man on the Phillies roster. I must give credit to Carlos Ruiz tho’, for an outstanding World Series. Carlos had several clutch hits, handled his catching duties flawlessly and was obviously a BIG part of the Series’ championship. Congratulations Carlos on being a GREAT team player and a fine catcher ! Lets go Phillies….everybody loves a CHAMPION !!

So much for all of those “bad feelings.”

I told all of the nay-sayers that they were making far, far more of the Monday-night debacle than was necessary.

Not only did it work to their advantage just as I said – but it proved that the BEST team won and won it in five at that… much to the chagrin of our “honorable” Commissioner of Baseball.

Anyway… While there were nothing as silly as tears here – It was certainly as good as I remember it being back in ’80.

Fantastic job Phils… Can’t wait until ’09!

Just ignore the anti-phillies fans. Think of it this way, all the other teams have more work to do to win the world series in 09 than the Phillies. Who is going to stop them from getting there again? The chocker Mets, The can’t win a game in the post season Cubs? The few games over .500 west division champions? The Sabathia less Brewers?………………………………… I am not seeing anyone !

On a funny note, I was just watching the end of the game again (okay, call me compulsive, but I can’t stop watching it!). I saw Burrell rush the field. My question is…

Why can’t he run that fast on the bases? Geez, that guy just explodes from the dugout for these celebrations. If he had that kind of jump on pitchers, he’d steal 40 bases a year. Okay, maybe not!

It’s nice to wake up in the morning and find that it wasn’t all a dream.

I can still remember the 1980 World Series win involving some of the powerhouses in Phillies history who will be remembered always.

I can remember the heartbreak in 1993.

I can remember all of the failures in between.

This 2008 season was about the rockiest ride to a championship of any team in sports that I can remember. Practically every member of this team had to face some adversity this year, as well as the coach, and yet they shook off all of the (deserved) criticism in true Philly-grit fashion and brought our fine city a World Championship in one of the “Big 4″ sports.

What a beautiful thing.
