If the dodgers can’t hit a home run in philly their never going to hit in in LA – but i guarantee the Phils will be hitting some bombs on the west coast.

CBP’s the Phillies bandox’ yet most writers favoured the Dodgers to take at least one of the first two games. Around the last game at Yankee stadium there was a hell of a lot of press on Babe Ruth power numbers and wasn’t it 290 in left when he played there?

The colder weathers more of a home-field advantage for the Phils than the size of the field, if it’s so easy to hit a HR here then why didn’t the ‘power Dodgers’ go long?

last night Madson was at like 92 I think… where as lately we’ve seen him around 95-96… but Hamels was 90-91, instead of 94pmh so maybe Fox uses a different radar gun than Comcast SportsNet ??

I know he’s got a good changeup, but I just think its ridiculous that whoever is left in the playoffs or performs well is automatically “the best” at whatever the subject is..

More people could get to know things about baseball if they would have shown what movement Lowe has on his sinker vs. the other “bests” such as Webb and Wang.. just to show people how effective it can be.. i dunno what the hell im talking about but those two things caught my ears last night and I started gettting annoyed by too much talking from announcers and experts!

Madson’s changeup is pretty nasty. Especially considering that Hamels sometimes takes an inning or two to settle in and really get that changeup working. Madson doesn’t have that liberty, so it has to be working the second he steps on the mound. Plus, he’s gunning the ball in there at like 97 MPH now, which can make the change even more devastating.

So last night.. before the game started, did anyone else hear Kevin Kennedy say that Derek Lowe has “THE BEST SINKER IN BASEBALL” ….. Really?.. Better than Webb and Chien Ming Wang????

And then last night our boy Mitch Williams said that Ryan Madson has the best changeup on the staff!!!! Maybe he forgot Cole Hamels pitches for us too ..??

Point is… these guys are told to talk non-stop or write non-stop about the playoffs.. so most of their stories, and quotes are ridiculous

you knew that was going to be the story after the game… Instead of Hamels staying composed and pitching great after giving up a first inning run.. and then going down 2-0…

The Phillies got lucky that we were playing in our own park because ours HR wouldn’t have been HR in Dodger Stadium..

Did the Dodgers hitters also get to bat at our stadium last night, or did they have to hit somewhere else??? I swore to god that the fences were the same distances and dimensions for their guys too.. maybe not though.

So yea, anyway, F the media… today’s articles are “Don’t forget the FIGHTIN Phillies!” ….and all the guys making sure they cover their ground by giving you the reasons we COULD win the series, just in case we do, and then they’ll remind us that they told us all how dangerous the Phillies are….. You have to realize that these guys get paid to fill pages in the newspaper, and sometimes they just want to mail-it-in instead of writing real, actual stories

This is getting so old. The dimensions of the ball park give no advantage to the Phillies. Both teams are hitting in the same “bandbox.” If people want to say that certain stadiums favor the home team because they know the way the ball bounces or how to play certain angles – that’s fine, because it has some truth to it. But there’s no point in saying how the stadium gives up “cheap” homers.

It took me until about the 27th time they said it last night… but did you guys know that the LA Dodgers had a remarkable turnaround after the aquisition of MANNY RAMIREZ?? AND.. up until the 6th inning, I thought he might have been the only guy playing last night since it was the only name they mentioned..

They forgot to leave out the fact that because he was admiring his HR.. er I mean Double… he didn’t get out of the box fast enough to get to 3rd base.. where he would have scored on the passed-ball … instead of moving from 2nd to 3rd… AND.. they lost by 1 run, with him ending that inning stranded on the bases…

He blows at everything except the actual hitting of the baseball

I really hope we win this series so people will shut up about Manny. I actually hope we shut him down and limit him to no home runs and very few RBIs to shut them up even more. Maybe people will stop saying outside of Hamels that our rotation is garbage because that’s just not true.

We’re not the favourites and aren’t the underdog either. When it’s Manny and the Dodgers it’s great baseball but when it’s the Phils it’s ‘fortunate’. When Manny hits an RBI double it’s great baseball but when Burrell goes long for the game winning homer it was Lowe mailing it in… Hypocrits.

I do think Madson has an awesome change, and it might be on par with Hamels, but not as many people see him or it. … Madson has carved his niche as a setup man. I can’t see him reverting to the rotation anytime soon. … Jayson Stark has a new column up about last night. Way too much about the ballpark. Really getting sick of the talk about the ballpark. Here’s the thing – the Phils hit them out. The Dodgers didn’t. That’s baseball. Gotta win anywhere.

Thanks Tim, I thought he was safe. Didn’t know if they slowed it down for you guys at home but being in the stands, I was the only one around me complaining about the call.

Before the Phils came up in the sixth, the guy next to me was like “Last inning stirred the drink. Now they just need to drink it.” Haha, interesting take on it but he was very right.

Anyway, today is all Myers. Lidge should be good to go, after throwing like ten in the ninth. Madson got his job done well. I thought we would bring in Romero for Ethier and then Durbin or someone for Manny in the eighth but clearly Charlie had a vision for Madson and it worked.

Overall it was a great win because the little things went our way.

I kind of have to agree with the Fox announcers that Madson’s change up=Hamels change up. Madson’s change up has the movement of a screwball. Hamels change up is that much better because he’s a lefty. Both of them have ridiculously devastating change ups. I’d honestly like to see if Madson can become a starter.

Greg Dobbs does need to be mic’ed the rest of the series! I too cried in ’93 when I was 7… it was so great watching Mitch Williams segment on comparing this team to 93 — I forgot how crazy they were!! I love this team even more – we are going all the way this year! I’m so pumped to be going to the game tonight, and another clutch Myers performance!!

I’m going to attempt to point this out because everyone is complaining. LA has fair weather fans. I mean of course there is a core group of a die hards but nowhere near as fanatical or abundant as for the Phillies. We’ll watch and stay tuned regardless of whether they are talking about us or them. Because of this, viewership will flatten when talking about us and spike if they talk about the Dodgers. I say let them have their fun, so long as we keep winning. And in case anyone is curious, the real favorites are the Phils. If you don’t believe me just ask Vegas.
